Renerabbitt
Like the title says I'm looking for any name value pairs to report joist spacing or rafter spacing I don't see any way of doing this neither from our floors and rooms definitions or from framing definitions. I can imagine that you could do it from materials defined with the spacing in the name that's a really clunky way of doing things unless somehow we can automatically change materials based on spacing which I don't believe we can although I remember seeing the material named fur framing 16 a long time ago
Joe_Carrick Posted yesterday at 03:49 AM Share Posted yesterday at 03:49 AM A named material would work. Personally, I have a text file with spacing and other framing defaults that I read to set $Global values that my framing label macros use. It's not very elegant but it works for most framing members. I suppose you could have a few special objects that when placed (and sized - perhaps by setting the length between joists, etc) would set the spacing as a $Global value. You would need one for each different type or role of framing member. Another option would be a custom field "Spacing" that you could assign to the framing members individually so referenced macros could pick up the values. It could assign the $Globals depending on the "role".
