KacyRSC
Long time Chief user and residential designer, but I'm new to Chief x17. I'm struggling to figure out how to transfer Projects between two computers. I do a lot of remote work, so this ability is essential. Issue is: I work on a project on PC 1 (a desktop). When I'm finished, I save and export the project file to a flash drive/google drive or whatever. Then, I go to PC 2 (a laptop) and import the project. All seems well, except now I now have multiple versions of the same project (Project A, Project A(1), Project A(2), etc..) showing up in my project browser, and I am also getting broken links to cad details, and none of my work is transferring. Seems like Chief is confused and is loading up older plans and layout pages that were in a previously saved project file with the same name. I tried renaming the project file, which didnt work. I tried manually deleting the redundant projects from the project browser. I tried exporting/copy/pasting the entire matching file structure (my old method) and overwriting the plans, layout pages, and project files. That didn't work either. I'm at a bit of a loss here. Any insight would be greatly appreciated! Edit: Sorry if this post is a bit redundant. Seems like maybe I just need to turn off project management. KacyRSC
Seems like one needs to use the new Backup and Restore feature. Going to try this today.

While I would expect importing the same project multiple times to produce duplicates in the Project Browser, it should not cause broken links or fail to transfer your work. KacyRSC
Thanks for the reassurance, Clinton, I thought I was losing my mind because I wasn't having any problems exporting and importing project files from multiple PC's earlier in the week... Ill reach out to support today, and provide an update to help anyone else who may be having issues.
KacyRSC
Update: For now, it seems like if you consistently switch workstations your best bet is to just disable Chiefs new project management feature. I've tried everything from importing .caproj files to restoring a project from backup, to overwriting the entire Data folder, and my desktop refuses to acknowledge the most recent project file. Hopefully this is something that works seamlessly in the future!
