newkeller11
Good morning. I have a plan that I am trying to change foundation walls to strip footing under a bearing wall. I don't necessarily want to auto-rebuild foundation since I have some pretty complicated things going on and I don't want to break everything. Is there a way to do this within the settings? Thanks! Jambruins
I am not sure how to get it to change to a strip footing so I just uncheck the option to create wall/footing below and draw two lines and chang them to dashed so they match the footing lines. Not quite what you are looking for but it will work. I am interested to see if there is a way to have chief do this automatically.

Place those walls on a new layer and set the line style to No Line: If you have a fill setting for the wall, and Walls, Layers checked, uncheck it also to turn off the fill. If you want to actually model an interior bearing wall, but not show it on the plan, create your interior wall and set it to "Foundation" in the wall spec DBX. This will create a footing for the wall: Then do as above, place on new layer and set the line style to No Line.
richoffan
Hi Amy If I understand correctly, you want those walls to be frame bearing on a footing below the slab. Draw the frame wall you want 4, 6, etc. open the dbx and define under wall type. Or just change the ones you've drawn. In the dbx under General the first item is foundation wall - check it. Go to Foundation 4 steps down from general and open that up. You can now spec your footing size, offsets, fill, AND layer. If you put it on its own layer you'll have control over the footing separate from the wall. Hope that helps.
newkeller11
Thanks so much everyone! Turns out I just had to delete the foundation walls and turn the walls above to bearing walls with a footing. Simple. I was overthinking it!
