Make New Layers in CA Pro 2024

Hey All,

I have given up on Sketchup and come over here as I don't want to be paying a subscription fee.

So far I really like the functionality of CA Pro 2024 and the outputs. There are quite a few differences between Sketchup and CA, but this appears far more user friendly.

That being said, I am pulling my hair out over this issue. I would love it if someone could tell me how to rename Layers and make new Layers? I have searched high and low and CANNOT find an answer. Most sites tell me to open up the layers set manager and just add a new layer. My program (Pro) does not have that option.....this despite it being the most expensive program option.

I would love it if someone could help me out!

Thankyou in advance.

Welcome to Chief Architect.  I'm 'guessing' you are referring to Chief Architect's 'Home Designer' software since you reference 'Pro 2024'?  If so, there is a separate forum for that software series found here:  https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/

And various training vids for Pro 2024 found here that you can explore and find what you need: https://www.homedesignersoftware.com/videos/

However, if you are referring to to Chief Architect Premier, then you are in the right place in which I would still recommend watching Chief's excellent training videos.

For layer management, including making and renaming layers these videos are a good start: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/playlists/100/saved-plan-views-layers-annotations.html

Beyond that, you can explore more advanced videos in the library.

Hope that helps.

Chief is great.

However, no one only has one tool in their shop.

Right tool for the job.

I use Chief mostly for plans for permit (no rendering needed) and Sketchup for real-world framing models.

I wish you every success!!!

Thankyou Para,

I am tearing my hair out with this program, it's quite the transition going from sketchup to this program.

All I want to do is design new garage, all built in sketchup but need to get the 2D prints for approval. I thought I could just move the plan over using DWG and then put it in layout. Oh well.

Thanks for your advice.

Tim
