Cabinet temp dimensions locating wall

Does anyone know why my temp dimensions appear like this when I want to resize a cabinet? If the cabinet is not adjacent to interior walls or other object, it will show the cabinet width. Otherwise it will show distance to a nearby wall and not indicate the cabinet width.

Testing that same setup, I get the same thing.

If I'm understanding how it's working, the Temp dimension is just locating the "two nearest" points. If the Cabinet is wide enough that it's edge is between two adjacent wall points, it'll pick those up and not show the cabinet's width.

If it's less wide, it'll pick up the walls on either side (effectively cab width)
