kdaleyates
Does anyone have a free standing deck detail? According to code now, you can't just attach your deck ledger to your house with lag screws. It must be engineered to do that or be a free standing structure, with 6x6 posts that extend to poured footers. Can anyone help? kdaleyates
Thanks for the response. I was looking to see if anyone had already drawn a detail and would share.
Gawdzira
Here is another one by the city of Portland with easy to read graphics. I believe the information is redundant. Basically, you can design a deck to meet these standards without an engineer. If the deck is more than a few feet off the ground the question arises, "Do you want an engineer to CYA?".
