Has anyone been asked to provide a "dollhouse floor plan" asbuilt to be used for home automation?

If so, does any one know what programs are used to complete the home automation.

For instance if a floor plan was produced in Chief, then the home owner wanted to use that floor plan to control his lights, hvac, or add attributes to a room what program would he use to do this.

I know its kind of a weird question, however was asked the question by a client and I have no clue where to even start to help them out.

Most home automation software allows you to overlay an image of the floor plan and to graphically assign controlled devices to a virtual location relative to the image. The client can do a simple Google search for home automation software to find examples: HomeSeer, Legrand, Crestron, Control4, etc. Understanding how the software interfaces with controllers, devices, and technologies isn't as simple.
