Outlet (or switch) 2d symbol separation from 3d object

When stacking outlets or switches in elevation, image.thumb.png.73e984a1b682164e9c7c04ca6813eced.png the 2d plan symbols also stack      image.thumb.png.30f66a9dea580d2d640acd9933c89ded.png Usually the electrician only uses the plan, not the elevation when doing his work and can easily miss this.    Any way, other than creating a custom 2d block for each instance, of separating the 2d from the 3d object image.thumb.png.67e3c5a87f6e58d913e9354bc3331ab1.png or is this wishful thinking?

Thanks Chopsaw this does the trick!

For others in the future that may happen across this post, these are the steps to achieve what Chopsaw describes.

Select the symbol to move and open the symbol specification. image.thumb.png.b49fe10fb948692dbff8c73320d865a7.png

Change the X offset to whatever makes sense, here its 8".       image.thumb.png.5ec910a4cd5507e5b62548387121e170.png

This is the result.                                                                        image.thumb.png.3a7044d68689162ced86cbdb95daecef.png

Move the symbol over the amount you input, again 8"               image.thumb.png.37956a51fa08ae69634a839da104c8be.png

The final result.                                                                           image.thumb.png.382cee16384f196cb2683e9eb45a8969.png

Hope this helps others.

What determines which CAD blocks get shown on this list, under "2D Block" in the Symbol Specification window? Or, more to the point, can I affect which CAD blocks get included in that list? I have a symbol in my User Catalog that I'd like to replace this fixture's assigned symbol with, but it doesn't seem to have made the list. It's hard for me to intuit what criteria this seemingly-arbitrary collection of CAD blocks all meet that make them distinct from all the CAD blocks (like the one I want to use) that are excluded from the list.

I would like to be able to display a dishwasher and disposal outlet in the position shown on the attachment (back of the cabinet).  The way I got this to work is to insert a wall, place the outlet, make it invisible, and turn off the invisible wall display.  Is there an easier way?  Outlets can be placed on the side of the island cabinet, why not on the back?

Hello, do we have batten board symbol in CA as wall type as shown in the section attached?

    • By ChiefuserMathews
I was wondering is there a way to rename a symbol so that the name appears in the schedule will be as required rather than the CA symbol name. eg. 2 way ceiling register, I want to rename it as supply air to reflect in my schedule. Is it possible? Any suggestions how i can achieve that?
