WoodlandDesign
Hello all. I am having a very strange problem with the deck railing wall function. As you can see in my screen capture the deck railing is 'cutting' the exterior wall surface material leaving a void. This is where it get interesting: It only does it where the LEFT deck railing meets a wall not on the RIGHT! I have tried many things including rebuilding the walls, using the Edit Wall Intersection function, changing the lock wall function, etc. I am scratching my head and don't understand what I'm missing or if this is a common glitch of the program. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance Picture on left shows problem. Same railing on right, no problem? .
DRAWZILLA
You can fix that by using the "edit wall intersection " tool. Just back it off the wall you want the stucco on.
WoodlandDesign
I have used this tool and pulled the railing wall back and the stucco wall back MANY times to no avail... It seems like something is overriding this function but I don't know what it would be. Thanks
DRAWZILLA
I guess it depends on how you build those walls. I will sometimes combine 2 walls into 1 wall but one of those walls needs to be a no room definition.
WoodlandDesign
That's it! I changed the railing to 'no room definition' and it solved the problem. Thanks so much for the quick assistance Perry. Have a great holiday weekend. -DG

DRAWZILLA
I guess you did not do the 2 wall method but all ok.
WoodlandDesign
I don't think I know what you mean with a two wall method. Is it something worth spending time on now for future situations?
DRAWZILLA
you must have used p-solids for the lower railing ,I guess, sometimes I will have a solid railing and need a w.i. railing on top or fill in a space with railing and you can't have two walls in one space unless you make one wall a non-def. wall. WoodlandDesign
I think I know what you mean. I pulled the wall from the floor below up to reach the desired height on this floor. I don't know if it's the correct way to do it or not but it allowed me to place the railing at the desired height.
