current layer

in older versions of chief i remember being able to make a certain layer the current layer. Say i want to draw revisions to a detail that i drew already. The first thing i would do is make my own created layer of "detail" the current layer. How do i do that????? every time i make a line i have to pick it then change it to my detail layer. I would like to do it the old way of making the detail layer current and anything i draw will be that layer. but of course, if i knew the way to do this now by whatever method (that i don't know), then let's hear it!!

Cad...Current Cad Layer.

Or there is a toolbar icon.

Or there is a hotkey.

 

Or, another way to do it after the fact is to use the Layer Painter - especially if you want to change the layer of several different types of objects.

Or you can change it in the Active Defaults dialog.  In the active defaults dialog, you can also change all of your other default settings for things like dimensions, text, callouts, etc.
