Roof structure thickness

Recommended Posts

When working on a roof structure, should adding thickness result in the roof extending into the living area below?   I am working a different elevation for a project already modeled differently expect I am changing the roof structure to something that is going to be much thicker.  I suppose I could just raise all the roof plane "z" height, but I feel like I may be missing something having to do that.

Yes, I believe that if you have edited an automatic roof plane and turned off auto rebuild it will lock the roof plane and build down on you.

You could turn auto rebuild back on but that is a whole new can of worms likely in your situation so transform and replicate is possibly the best solution at this point.

Auto built roofs build from the top plate (ceiling height) up.

Manually made changes to a roof plane structure seem to build from the current baseline -- top of rafter.
