  1. Sorry for the confusion. Not using a pdf in the layout itself. I am printing TO a pdf from layout, and then printing that pdf to my printer. Maybe it is a printer setting or something. This has never happened before.
  2. Nope, no fill in the layout box.
  3. Here is the final PDF drawing set. It shows a little more of why I was trying to rotate the 2 elevations on page 3. Seamed like they would fit the page better if I rotate them. I did convert the original elevations to a CAD detail but at the expense of not having control over the pattern line defaults. I like to show my materials in a lighter shade of gray (see page 2), and also at the expense of if a change is made, I will have to convert it again to have it update. 4. Appears that way. Unless I am totally missing something. You would think this would be a standard feature just like how you can rotate other things.
  5. It's a problem because the black covers up the text notes on the elevations and part of the cross sections notes, uses excess black ink for no reason, and is visually unatractive. Just seams to be doing it on the election layout boxes and not the layout box for the cross section.
  6. I am also getting this when I am printing. The black fill behind the elevation. It does not show on the pdf that I export from Chief. IMG_8745.HEIC Shultz Shed-Final Plan Set 4-13-20.pdf
  7. Does anyone know how to rotate a layout view? Seams like it should be fairly simple like clicking on the view and rotating using the handle. There are no handles that show up. Is there another way. Also right clicked on transform/replicate object, but the option for rotate is grayed out and not available. Using a sheet in portrait mode, and would like to rotate elevations 90 degrees to better fit on the taller sheet size.
  8. Here are some of the other renderings I did last year using X11.
  9. Here is the X11 plan that the original renderings came from about 1 year ago. Camera 2 is specific camera I was showing previously. Bercher-Wigand-Eyck-Remodel_E_2-11-19.plan
  10. Hi Michael, hope things are well with you. I do not have a roof or foundation on this model. I have been working on a current project and got to the point where I was ready for an interior rendering. This is the first time doing an interior rendering since upgrading to X12. I set some interior general lights in the room like usual and rendered. Very poor quality lighting and grainy image. I then opened a project I did about a year ago in X11 just to compare. I opened it in X12 and changed nothing. Did a rendering and still get poor quality lighting and grainy image. I've also played with bumping up the lumens like 3 times as much with very little improvement. I seam to have no control over the general lighting.
  11. Here is a render setting the camera lighting to default light set. No change. Also getting that weird reflection thing at the tops of the cabinets on all of these.
  12. Here is a render setting the camera lighting to automatic with maximum lights set at 50. No change.
  13. Here is a sample of a rendering I did about a year ago in X11 and the same view in X12. I changed nothing. Note the poor lighting quality in the X12 version. Have played around with lighting settings all afternoon and nothing seams to change. What am I missing. Anyone had the same problem?
  14. Does anyone know if and what changed with ray trace rendering in X12 from X11. Getting very dark and poor lighting when doing interior rendering. I've placed lights on the interior as I did with X11 and am not seeing much of a difference from not having any lights at all. I have even opened a project that I did in X11 in X12 and have not changed anything and still get very poor lighting when ray tracing.
  15. Thanks for the help. I went with the... Edit Area to select what you want to rotate. Drag the selection away. Use the Rotate Handle to rotate. Point-to-Point to move. ...that Eric suggested.
  16. Am I completely missing something, or how do you go about rotating a portion of a floor plan around a specific point? I currently have a floor plan with a potion extending at a 45 degree. I want to rotate that 45 degree portion to 90 degrees instead. After selecting everything that I want to rotate, I've found a tool called 'rotate/resize about current point' but don't seam to get this tool to do anything at all. I've also tried using 'transform/replicate object' tool but rotate is not an option here as it is grayed out and I can't select it. HELP!
  17. Looking for someone to do preliminary and final bid/construction drawings based on concept designs that I would provide. I would want drawings done on my sheet border and CAD standards or drawing look. If interested, send me a response with summary of your experience, and a sample of a final plan set you have done. Must have Chief version X11. I will review and contact you by phone to discuss in greater detail. Feel free to visit my website at www.djhplanning.com to get a feel for the type of projects that we work on. I have attached a sample of one of my plan sets showing the look and the standard drawings I like to do for each project. Gritzmacher-Final Plan Set 5-2-19.pdf
  18. Joey, I am an independent designer from Pierz, Minnesota. I have 25 years of experience in the building industry as a designer, estimator, project manager, etc. I've had my own design business for about 6 years now. I have no employees right now. I work on a lot of unique lake homes around the Brainerd and Crosslake areas in Minnesota but also do projects through out the entire state, and am starting to do projects in other states as well. I saw your post and am wondering if you are available to take on some extra work that I have right now? I really like the look of your drawings, they are similar to my style of drawings. If you would be interested, I would like to talk with you more by phone. You could take a look at my website at www.djhplanning.com to get a feel for the type of projects that I work on. Talk to you soon, Dan J. Heid
  19. Thanks Solver, A door tag is what Chief calls a label on the floor plan. I like to use a number for my windows (when I use Chiefs window schedule). If I don't use Chiefs window schedule, I just show a generic window size on the floor plan (i.e. 2'6"x4'-0"). For doors, I usually show the door label on the floor plan i.e. 2668 (2'-6" wide by 6'-8" high) and don't even use Chiefs door schedule. For a current project, I did need to use the door schedule because I needed to show an exterior out-swing French which will not go to a window schedule. I like to keep things simple and have sometimes used letters before for door labels. I don't like using the default D and W before the label because the symbol gets to big (because I like to keep all of my text, including labels the same 5" size). Apparently numbers is the only option for both window and door schedules.
  20. Thanks Joe, this worked to uncheck the sliding glass door off of the items to include. I would normally include exterior patio doors in the window schedule because they are normally supplied by the same window manufacture as the other windows. But in this case I also have an outswing French door in a different level of the house. It would be nice to also have that option for outswing French doors as well and not only for sliding glass doors.
  21. And how do I keep an exterior sliding glass door from showing up on the window schedule and also on the door schedule?
  22. Would anyone know if it is possible and how I would change the door tags on the door schedule to letters instead of numbers. My window schedule has numbers so I don't want to confuse things with numbers on the door schedule as well.
  23. Thanks Chris, that would be an option. I try to minimize doing this because all the lines that are edited in layout this way will come back whenever the elevations are updated after a change.
  24. Thanks Glen, that seamed to clear up the boxed eave on the deck side
