Thank you Rob, my front steep pitches are a false overhang to mimic the appearance of a gambrel.  I can make them touch but they don't want to join and the rake's are not a bisected angle.

Hello all I'm working on a complex roof line and making steady progress.  While I was adusting the railings of this deck I created I moved something, and did not notice that the deck disappeared.  I've already drafted some other things that I don't want to loose and cannot figure out what is causing the deck to disappear...  any thoughts?

A secondary question is how to dictate wall heights by dimension?  I'm trying to create a complex roof line and controlling height of certain walls will be helpful.

Why am I not able to select "Copy"  I want to copy a window as I have done a thousand times before.  Now my copy selection is not available in any menu....why and how do I restore it...

Ok, so I was able to find the handle on the actual schedule box, just no tool bar selections available yet.

My move up or down buttons are grayed out or un-selectable currently, I'm searching for the mechanism to enable them...

Let me catch up and state what my goal is.  My goal is to place have my window schedule organized the way I want it organized.  I wish to have the window at the bottom right side of my plan on the first floor be window number one and proceed clockwise around the building until I'm done with floor one and then proceed with the second or third floor.  Is this possible in Chief?  

I do appreciate all the comments, I'm learning how the current set up operates.  A bit confusing but little by little, brick by brick...

The above sample is for a remodel with  a lot going on so....more complicated than new construction.  The point above is how to organize by floor and in the order that I prefer.  Can this be done?

Yes, perhaps I'm not articulating the problem.  I'm selecting a window object in plan, say w-6, I open, type in the comment and the program is not entering the comment on w-6, it is reassigning the window to w-16,17,18,  or nineteen and leaving line w-6 blank... ?

Now that social distancing has set in I'm starved for attention....

I'm trying to add notes to a window schedule with the plan open....when i select a window that already has a label a new label is being created with a new number.  So I was able to add comments to windows one through five, then at six the note did not populate but added a window number 17....i only had 14 window numbers to begin with...

it feels like a Microsoft auto formatting feature that I don't know how it was turned on or why it is functioning the way it is...I add a note to w7 and then it shows up as window 19....Arg....why?  how do we trouble shoot these issues...the CA produced videos don't seem to cover anything like this...

Closed and reopened the plan and now window w-6 is gone...lol....did the corona virus take it away...

My design sheet is 24 x 36 and all is good but when I want to send that to print on an 11 x 17 paper is there a way to do this

and have the dimensions print larger?  I'm looking for video or reference set to this and I am running x 12 now.

Progress but I managed to turn off more than I would like.  I'm trying to put the siding and grayscales back in order on these plans.

How does one shut off a pattern in elevation view?  I'm looking to shut off the roof shingle pattern in this view and then send it to layout and have it print without roof shingles.

Thank you rgardner, I figured out that my refrigerator is on my cabinet layer when I select it but when I uncheck the cabinets the cabinets are hidden but the refrigerator remains?  So ….now how do I connect it to that layer if it is disconnected?

This was a good thread for me and really helped my understand how and why the layer sets work.  I'm trying to take this a step further and trying to move my appliances deselected when I hide cabinets.  When I deselect cabinets they go away as planned but the appliances remain even though they are part of the cabinet bases....How do I move my appliances to another layer?  I found an old video but it does not work or things have evolved from x5?

my second floor plan is missing walls in a couple places that I have circled. I'm trying to figure out why they are not generating in this view since the plan renders ok.  

I ended up solving this issue by creating a soffit and then manipulating the size and placement.  I would welcome alternative ways to draw this so that materials etc. calculate correctly. (not that a 4.5 strip of drywall matters...but...you know what I mean)
