  1. I am meeting with a client on Monday to go over the final plans for their build and I can't get my elevations under control because of my roof. Here is a pic of what the roof needs to look like, post-58-0-36759500-1401001609_thumb.jpg and you'll see in the plan where I've gone wrong. The pitch of the roof is 8/12 and the gables and eve's have a 14" over hang. I normally have roof down, but not this one. I'm stumped. Any advice would be appreciated! If you need to get a hold of me directly my email is in my signature.

  2. Gene I live off of Auburn Rd near Dupont. Rd. That area has boomed in the past 5 years. I've been with Chief Architect for many years, But recently went from HD Pro to Chief right about the time X5 rolled out. I'm 25 years old and do this as a hobby. More of a home enthusiast than anything.  I can't bring myself to design my own home and it's driving me NUTS! Lol. My significant other is no help when it comes to the designing our dream home either. All I get is "Just tell me what checks to sign and don't bother me with the details" LOL Gene where do you live now? Why did you move form Fort Wayne? DO you know of any other Chiefers that live in Fort Wayne?

  3. Thanks Gene, practice makes perfect. Greg, I'm not sure pony walls would work in that situation, but lucky I figured it out without having to do a work-around. Gene, great idea about the stucco. I would have posted sooner but the internet connection I pay $150.00 a month for only works about 1/4 the time and the cable company who provides my service has been to my house at least 4 times this month alone.... and it's only the 11th. They say nothing is wrong with the main line, they replaced all the lines on my house, and all of my equipment. Nothing seems to work. But hey what are you gonna do?

  4. So what my problem was, was that I wasn't paying attention/understanding the dialogue boxes in the room specification box under the structures tab. Nor was I very familiar with footings and foundation walls. I opened a blank plan and googled information on footings and putzed around with it until I got EXACTLY what I was looking for. I took a lot of notes and looked over the plans that Perry sent me and then I had my "Viola" moment! Perry you were right! Here is what the finished product looks like. I feel extremely accomplished! LOL David Potter once siad "If you don't understand a sentence it's probably because you don't understand a word in the sentence." I think the same thing applies here. I didn't understand where to input the number's i needed, I looked up information on how it should be done, and then put the pieces together. You guys are amazing at what you do. Thank you for all your time and efforts!

  5. Well this is what I have so far. (See attached pic) I can't get my the stem wall height of my garage to match the main house. I also can't get the garage walls to match the pictures, That probably makes no since. Have you looked at the plan and the pictures?

  6. As usual I've screwed something up and can't figure out how to get my garage to look the way I need it to. I could go on and on and spit out some gibberish as to what I want done but that would only confuse rather than help. So I'm going to post a few pictures of what I'm trying to achieve and pray someone has the time to do a video for me or some other way of explaining it to me in a way I can understand it. So here it goes.

  7. Jay thank you for posting that plan. After futzing with mine, I'm still going NUTS! Mine won't do what I want it to do!? What the heck am I doing wrong? I'm going to post the plan on the Q&A section of this forum, I don't want to keep hijacking Greg's thread. Maybe you can take a look at it there. Thanks for your help! I greatly appreciate it!

  8. Foundations will be the death of me! I'm trying to create a crawlspace with the Garage on grade and have it look the way it's supposed to look. Here are some pic's of what I'm trying to achieve. I'm pulling my hair out with this one. I'm sure it's something VERY simple that i'm over looking. (Put the wine down Ross and I'm sure you'll figure it out) My next goal is to create a walkout basement WITH terrain. I always avoided the terrain tools. Keep up the good work!

  9. Greg, I have been using manual roof planes myself for a short period of time, I still have a lot to learn but I could never get Automatic Roof Planes to do what I wanted. So after watching several of the roof building video by these fine users, such as video's by Scott, and by David Michael. (I can't stand watching video's done by Chief Architect, They put me to sleep) I gave it a whirl. I started out with a basic box, moved up from there. I'm not perfect, I still come across a lot of problem and hesitate to ask because I'm stubborn. I'll bust my butt on it something until I'm ready to explode and then I ask for help. About the Terrain tools... I have never really used them before. My three major areas I need to work on are Foundations, (especially crawlspace with the garage floor lowered) Roof's, and Terrain tools. All in all, I think you did a wonderful job!

  10. After I posted my reply's I kept checking your YouTube page to see if you posted a video. LOL I thought it would have caught your curiosity. Thanks Scott for taking time out of your busy day to help people. I never contribute out of fear that I'd be wrong, but when I work up the nerve I don't even hear if it helped. LOL Just my luck!

  11. Did any of my gibberish help at all? Not sure why no one else chimed in on this. I'm curious to know why you only have half a house drawn up... or 1/4 a house, I don't even know. Why not draw the whole thing? Just curious. I thought for sure Scott would have jumped in here and posted a video. LOL But these are busy guys. Good luck, let me know if any of this helped and maybe a little more info about the plan  ;)

  12. "4. Frieze not showing on garage wall that meets the front porch" Select "Default Wall Top Height" in the structure tab of that wall and the frieze reappears. Also it kind cleans up the front porch gable a little bit...See pictures below.

  13. "1. Wall at garage corner will not join properly" You have that as a "Attic Wall". I'm assuming you didn't mean for that to be an attic wall. Un-checking that box fixed that wall connection problems. See photo's below...

  14. Does anyone have a symbol of a steel entry door that looks like this? "See Pic Below" Chief's library has one that is similar "see render below" however it's not the look I'm going for. Finger's crossed!
