  1. Users of Chief;

I am trying to figure out a way to import my AutoCAD files into Chief importing only the Title Block information

so that I can export it into the layout sheets and set this up for the standard layouts that I will be using for this job from the architect

primarily? I need a step by step procedure here please; you can email me or call me, or text me with your replies.

I will eagerly await your replies.

    Thx,

  4. Chief users;

I have a home model which I am not free to share with you, but really need some help

getting the materials to work out separately and correctly in the 3 back bedrooms on the left side of the house.

The separate living spaces of the rest of the house, kitchen, living room, entry, are a different material of laminate

    by the way?

So far I have tried almost everything, as I am somewhat frustrated, but not giving up.

I've tried settings the program defaults, the floor defaults, in the structure tabs under

each separate room that I want the material changed from the default material of laminate,

to the material for the three bedrooms of the carpet.

(please see attached floorplan definitions laminate and carpet picture)

I have tried to change the default settings, the room definitions under the structure tab

and many other ways and still no results in the 3D perspective views.

Still doesn't work for me, please let me know what it is that I'm doing wrong here?

    Thx much!

  5. Linking new plan files and layout files in X8;

Anyone tell me exactly, maybe with some screenshots, how to go about making doubly sure that a plan file

is linked properly with the corresponding layout file in the settings. It would help greatly, if you could take a snapshot of where

it is in the settings, or just exactly how to get to the screen where you can manipulate or make this change if need?

    Thanks so much in advance!

  6. Anyone around this weekend???

I am in the need of getting some support and individualized instruction, now over the weekend,

designing glass stairway partitions - (multiple), on a first floor stair way of a small two story modern house.

It is going all the way up to the and second floor joists, where this stairway disappears into the second floor

on the upstairs second floor level.

I just would like your thoughts on how to do this, and lay it out in CA X8.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Feel free to call if possible, or send me a text.

If you contact me I will share some photos off my phone of the stairway itself.

I need to get this done now asap. Can trade some design time for compensation,

or a small amount of monies for tutor and guidance on Team Viewer.

    Thx,

I am originally from Colorado, as I am from the Glenwood Springs Colorado area. I now reside in sunny sw florida

but I still have contacts and engineers there in the State of Colorado. Feel free to contact me if you want to discuss using me

for the drafting and then proceed with an engineers stamp for the structure and the finalized stamped and approved plans?

  8. Need some help with the layers management tools and working with a DXF file that

has been imported into Chief X8.

Need to put the DXF Files on their own layer, then lock the DXF down, as make it so

that when I start to draft over the top of the DXF file I can clearly distinguish between the two.

Thx, for the help fellow users.

  9. Need to get some expert advise on how to go about drawing this style of house in metric, with metric standards, and materials.

The roof is the difficult part of this particular design. Willing to pay for a consult from an experienced user, say $50.00 on Pay Pal.

Please get in touch with me as soon as possible, so that we can discuss the project in more depth.

    Thx,

  10. I am trying to find out methods of building a metric model with this style of roofing iron in Chief.

So far am not having great success getting the model to work using the imperial methods

and defaults that chief uses for the materials and the methods of construction for the roofs.

The scan001 has the parameters for what we are trying to accomplish here.

If someone, who has experience building this sort of roof system could answer my post

it would be most helpful. Trying to get some answers now over the long weekend.

Contact me asap please with your solutions to these methods of construction, and

just exactly how to do it in Chief?

    Thx,

My work out at dcbcaddesigns.com, or on Facebook at Accurateasbuilts

Then give me an email at douglasburgmann@gmail.com or

I also can be reached after 4pm ET at (970)987-4476

  12. I reside here in the SW Florida region near Port Charlotte as I would love to talk with you about your current workload and

see how I might be able to help out?

Please, keep in mind that I also work for Probuild in the truss department here locally full time, so the workload that you're speaking of

would have to be less than full time as well?

  13. Having some difficulty with the CA X8 program, as I am trying to transition from a 5000 square ft building going from 12" CMU up to 8" CMU on the second floor or upper level of a 5000 sq. ft monastery. Currently, I have completed the second floor, but don't see the windows on the exterior walls in 3D perspective view? There must be a setting I am overlooking? Phone calls are welcome as well.
