Mick, Thanks for the tip. I wasted a lot of time last week when when rendering seemed to cause freezing and crashes. Having to relabel a several fixtures sent me to the right post to find the solution today. Liz

I just had same problem. Rolled back Nvidia driver and it seems to bee working now. It's a GTX 970M in Sager laptop, using X9 now. Liz

It works for the cabinet in the 3d but the countertop is lost. I put a custom counter over it and that made it work in plan and 3d. Seems like we could do it without a workaround a few versions ago. Liz

I was having this problem and this is the only thread I found about it. The cabinet runs perpendicular to the wall opening and the end disappears on the plan no matter how I place it. On 3d the cabinet shows but countertop is missing. Add a custom top and both plan and 3d look correct. Liz

Has anyone found a way to have sliding doors in a base cabinet? Doesn't come up in a search so I figure no one else needs them or there is something obvious I am missing. Liz

Thanks for the response, Michael. Looks like it may be an issue with my computer. I'm working on a monitor attached to laptop. When I drag the dbx to the laptop screen, the eyedropper works. It used to work on the monitor so maybe it's just getting old and quirky. Seems to work fine otherwise.

When changing fill color on a shape or 2d symbol, using the eyedropper in the color select dbx is giving me strange results. Moving the eyedropper around the screen does not pick up color under it. Sometimes it is only black or gray no matter what color I am over. Can work around fairly easily but this seems line a bug unless there is a setting I can't find. It worked to select fill color from another object in plan in X7. Not sure if this started with X8 or more recently. Anyone else experienced this? Liz

It was an Adobe Reader problem. In case anyone else has it: in the menu: Edit/Preferences/Page display: check "show large images" Don't know how it got unchecked. Images were showing a day or two before. Liz

Here are the plan and layout files. It isn't only this plan and this plan was fine the last time I was in it. I just opened a layout file that I hadn't worked on in a few days and had the same problem printing, both CA pdf and Cute pdf. I'm working in X8 on a new Sager laptop running Windows 10. Adobe Reader DC (that so far I dislike intensely) but also looks the same in Cute pdf Pro. Thanks, Liz Arsenic2.layout Arsenic2.plan

When I send this layout to print to pdf, either with CA pdf or Cute pdf, all I get is a grey box on the print. Attaching screen shots of the layout sheet, view in Adobe (it's same in Cute pdf Pro), and print dbx. I've tried several times, including a plan page, and get same results. Closed program, reopened, same results. It worked fine in this file a few days ago. Open another layout for another project. Printed plan to pdf fine. Took camera view, sent to layout, printed that layout page to pdf and go the gray box again. Any ideas of what to check? Thanks, Liz

Strange. Did you both use x7? I don't think I had the problem before x7 (or maybe x6). But I have it consistently now. I've checked settings. Windows have no casing, sill, lintel or anything else. just a small frame. No minimum separation. Ignore casing for resize. Here is a test plan in a new file and I still have the problem. This happens when there is a thin wall with storefront in line with a thick masonry wall. A window placed in the thin wall cannot be pushed close to the thick wall though that minimum is a mystery. In this case the thick wall is about 16" and the distance is 9". There is no casing and ignore casing for opening is checked. I will do a work around by using thinner walls to make up the thick one, but wonder if a simpler way. I run into this often in retail design. Thanks, Liz

Joe, thank you for posting this. I have been using a couple of methods to do storefront that sometimes work but this looks like it has more possibilities and easier to use once panel symbols are set up. Going to try it now! Liz

I do disconnect my laptop every day and take it home. Monitor is at the office. An almost perfect system for my needs. So I have to drag every box to where I want it the first time I use it everyday. Seems that didn't happen until I realized I could drag a window tab to the laptop screen and use both screens. Now it opens the dialog on the laptop even when I do not have a Chief window there. I will try to remember to set the monitor as Primary screen when I connect to it. Thanks for that tip, Mick. Liz

Is there a way to control where the dialog windows pop up on screen? I use a monitor connected to a laptop. Usually I have Chief on the monitor and photos or other references on the laptop screen. When I open a dialog, I would like it to be on the monitor but it pops up on the laptop. I drag it over and next time that dialog comes in on the monitor. But each type of dialog is on the laptop until I move it. Seems like it used to all pop up in front of the Chief window on the monitor. Sometimes I drag tabs over to the monitor for a 3d window. It may have changed when I first did that. Liz

Decreasing line weight for camera view set helps. Liz

I get this a lot when I use vector view to show a client 3d at a schematic stage. It happens when zoomed out to show a large area. Goes away when I zoom in. But I need the long view (doing bookstores) and this is really annoying and makes it look like I have Mickey Mouse CAD. Liz

When I do a search and open one of the results, I can't go back and to look at another. Get a "webpage expired" message. Is it just me or is this really as stupid as it seems? Liz
