  1. Other card is Intel HD graphics 4000. Laptop is Dell Vostro with Windows 7 if that matters.
  2. Yay! It's fixed. thanks M. I got the monitor hooked up, opened the NVidia window and hit Apply. Then opened CA and it had the right card, the dimensions are clear and the black is gone. Wish I'd thought to check that sooner. Liz
  3. I hook up to a monitor at my office and take the laptop home at night, so it changes all the time. That may well be the problem. I will check when I get the monitor hook to it. Thanks!
  4. It's a laptop with two video cards. It's supposed to be using the Nvidia card but I just realized that it not. In Nvidia settings, Nvidia is chosen for both default and specifically for Chief. In CA preferences/video card status, it used to show the Nvidia card but now it is showing the Intel card. So something is obviously not functioning. The only place I know to change it is the NVidia panel. Since it isn't using what is set there, does that mean the card is kaput? Nothing looks wrong in device manager. Just after I posted the problem today I got an error message and had to close CA. It was an MS visual C++ Runtime library error window that said "Runtime error, Program: (the CA file I was in) R6025 -pure virtual function call", After reopening CA the dimension on the section looked fine for a few minutes. Thanks for any suggestions. Liz
  5. When I put dimension on a cross section the numbers are sometimes blobs like the left image on this layout file. Look Ok when sent to layout not as image. Is this a video card problem? I've only had the problem since X6. The blob changes as I scroll in and out and clears up if in real close. Another annoying, but not as difficult to live with, thing that started with X6 is the background turns black when I scroll. Thanks, Lizscreen dims.pdf
  6. Thanks, Glenn. That did what I needed. On the plan I sent, I forgot I had pulled the center cabinet back so it was not showing the auto-filled squared corner that I couldn't get rid of if the cabinets were complete. Making it radius end did the trick. Thought I tried that and it told me I couldn't do it because of attached cabinet. Must have picked right when I should have picked left. After I changed to radius ends, I went back to see if I could do angled corners. Used angled front again but this time didn't get the auto-fill. Don't know what is different but glad it is!
  7. Chief doesn't seem to like to make outside corners on cabinets. I am having difficulty getting non-square corners on the outside of a U-shaped retail counter. Auto corners and auto fillers are unchecked. But I can't get it to not try to square off at least one outside corner. At this point I just want it to look right in plan and in 3d from the outside. I will work around by pulling back the cabinets and filling in with p-line solids to get the blank face if necessary. If anyone knows a better way, please tell me. It would also be nice to get options for angled and rounded corners in these outside locations. It doesn't seem to recognize the angled corners I added, I guess because they are reversed from the main cabinet. The attached file is just the cabinets in question. Thanks, Liz cabinet test.plan
