Eric, you just taught me a lot of wonderful things with this video. I can use it with a ceiling plane which was my situation instead of the roof. Thanks for taking the time to develop this video to show me more on how to do this.

Very helpful solutions! Thanks so much everyone for stepping up to help me!!

Perfect! Great info. Thanks so much!

Thanks, this answered the question on the rectangle box that I couldn't figure out. However, I think you other solutions are even better ways for me to approach a window of this style in the future. Appreciate your help!

Thanks you for helping me. I think I could use something like this for the flanking windows, but still have difficulty with the center window. When I use the arches like dog ear, I can't get the arch to match the 6/12 slope of the ceiling. I can't use the option of Match Room because the wall the windows is on is more towards the center of the house where the roof isn't gabled.

Those look great! Unfortunately, they want the center big window to be one large pane of glass instead of two. I couldn't figure out how to get that geometry in the window spec dba. I have learned out how to have the polyline window set into and cut the wall, but I can't figure out how to have it not have a square section cut out along with it.

Thanks for assistance. I will look at this to see if it helps when I have more time.

Hi again Heroes! I created a special shaped polyline and turned it into a symbol for a window and inserting it into the wall 6". But it wants to make the opening in the wall a rectangle instead of the shape I made. Anyone able to give me what it is I need to do? Or a real clear video of how you should make the custom polyline windows with all the steps would be great. I am using x12 on this current project. I would greatly appreciate any help as I have been working on this off and on for days. This is what I am trying to make into windows.

UPDATE: Defective mouse seems to be the answer. I had another one that I hooked up and it seems to be working properly now. Does anyone have this issue and know what could be causing this? I normally can click on an object and then decide to open the dialog box or do some other function. For instance, change the dimension of it from another object. Any ideas on how to get my mouse back to functioning correctly. I have rebooted my computer. I just went back in to a couple of drawings and it is sort of strange how my mouse is reacting. Sometimes I select a door and it doesn't open the dialog box and sometimes I select a different door and it does open the dba. I kept clicking around to see how it would react. Now everything I select in that drawing, door, cabinet, fixture, etc. will open the dba and I have to hit esc to cancel the dba. It did the same thing in another drawing. Defective mouse? Windows update issue? Or a CA issue? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Thanks in advanced, Folks!

Thanks Brett, This is more like what I was seeing in the discussions I mentioned. I may have to use something like this if the client isn't happy with the square cut mentioned earlier doesn't work for the client.

Sorry for the delay in response. I think this is what the client is wanting. I will do it this way to show him. I had forgotten this option. Thanks!

I have seen some posts where the solution is discussed. It involves the use of shadow boards. Has anyone seen or made a video that would show me how this is accomplished?

Kyle, I think I have plenty available space. Thank you for trying to help me.

Mick, I done a few saves once I found the issue and they show up in the archive folder fine. Here a picture.
-
Yep, followed the path and it went to the same data with only 2 files. I double checked other x15 work and it is doing the same.
-
Can anyone help me figure this one out? I should have multiple archive files by now. I have been working on this plan for days. i followed the actual path to where the files are supposed to be filed, but there wasn't any difference in the contents.

Outstanding!!!! thanks so much.

I found this one, but when I imported it it didn't have everything I was using in CA on my old computer. Is there anyway with in CA that I can find the location of the .calibz user file being used... perhaps in preferences or somewhere else? I think I may have imported it from somewhere else.
-
I have migrated to a new computer and copied my x12 .calibz file to the new computer, I thought, but I find several symbols missing. I think I copied the wrong user file, I still have access to the old computer. Is there a place on Chief Architect where I can find the user .calibz file that the old computer is using?

I must have accidentally turned something off. There is normally a red x that will appear when I am trying to align two walls on my floor plan. It would appear when I would grab one wall and drag it towards the other wall. Can anyone tell me how to turn it back on again? The picture shows a red x that I drew in to show what it used to look like. Thanks!!!

Thanks guys. I have given your feedback to the builder.

This is what I ended up doing. 1. I drew foundation for whole house as crawl space and built the floor framing. 2. selected the areas that were existing carport and shop and made those areas "floor suppled by room above, retain floor framing. also made them monolithic. 3. selected original part of house and made its floor "supplied by foundation room below". 4. Rebuilt foundation as stem wall with the option "slab at top of wall" selected. This seemed to work well enough for my purposes.

Can anyone give me a hint on how they would go about using CA functions to build a raised floor over an exiting carport. The carport slab is 24 inches below the F.F.E of the house. There is an enclosed shop at the other end of the carport (all of this is under the same roof). Its slab is 20" lower than the F.F.E. The owner is wanting to build a raised crawlspace over the carport slab that will bring it up to the house level. he is going to change this area to a master bedroom suite. Thanks!

Good idea. And I am guessing that I could use a curved roof plane,. I think I saw those in the available choices. BTW, love the adorable light house,,!

Anyone come across this and have an answer. I guess I could always fudge it with a polyline solid, but thought I'd check to see if there was a way to do it with actual walls
