It might be a result of an incorrectly placed "z" stretch plan in the symbol.
-
As Mark has shown, the key is to use a "Drawer", not a "Door".

That simply requires a modification of the Roof Plane Finish and Structure Layers.
BTW, this is a pretty expensive software for designing "Chicken Coops"

Negative, not for what I charge to do plans. They get what they want.
Assuming that you are charging them that much then why not just upgrade to X14?

do we have this option in X13? "show shutters closed"?
No, it's an X14 feature.

Sometimes you just have to use manual roof planes and do a bit of editing.

If the Scale Graphic is correctly sized and visible in the Plan View then just send the view to Layout. You should actually only need one saved in your library at your normal metric scale. The Drawing Scale should automatically display it at the correct size. The corresponding Text should be a macro that displays the scale of the Plan View

Hi Gene,
I think Chief has modified how materials get rotated in the Symbols. They've tried to orient the textures the long direction of long/thin pieces. This is new in X14 so I think what you're seeing is Chief "fixing" the textures.
Try assigning just one texture to all the pieces and then create your Symbol. I think that will work correctly.

Do you have a roof?
-
I don't know of any other way. It would be nice if Chief provided a way to sort by individual columns.
-
In the Build Roof DBX define the Roof Layers Surface as SIPs.
Then after building the Roof Planes and Framing, edit the Rafters (position and length as needed)
You can modify the lengths and/or the position of the Rafters. Just make sure you turn off "Auto-Rebuild" for the Roof Framing.

Here's some samples of what I do. These are 3D Mission Roof Tile Symbols placed using Distribution Regions, Distribution Paths and Ridge Caps. Each tile is a symbol but using distribution regions for the field tile and separate symbols for the Ridge Caps and Rake Assemblies the result is just about as realistic as it can get.

Setting the user catalog to be synced via Dropbox or OneDrive should work. Just be aware that any changes made by one user will effect all since it's just one file. It's just a matter of specifying the location for the User Library in Preferences.

is there a macro for linking drawings to titles in layout
Hi Jay,
Take a look at the built-in macros for "Layout Box Labels". They may have what you want. Note also that the name of a drawing in the Project Browser can be used as well.
The ability to link referenced names has been greatly improved in X14.
Here's a pic of what I do for "Plan Views"
For Elevations, Sections and Details I use different settings, but you can experiment to see what works for you.
I do have a system for automatically numbering details within a layout page based on their locations. It's a bit complicated to set up (requires a couple of macros) but once done it works.

Joe, the schedules in my screenshots are using the Comments field - I renamed the column heading to "description".
OK, I tried it in X14 and the wrapping works for me.
-
Robert,
Try the "Comments" column in the schedule.

I would suggest that you look at the help files for terrain. Everything you are asking about is covered in the help file. In addition, there are training videos provided by Chief that cover those topics.
There are several users here that are happy to help - but not when the tools are already covered by the help and videos already provided. It's important that you learn to do these things for yourself rather than always asking someone else to show you how.

Hi Jay,
It would appear that it should work - but it doesn't. At least not that I can get it to work.
OTOH, I use a custom macro in a Rich Text Box. I've attached the macro which you can import and use. When a RTB is placed in a room, it picks up the room data.
Note that if you need to place the RTB outside of a room you can use a leader line to connect it and get the room data.

You might also want to change the Minimum Display Size for Dimensions in Preferences> Appearance.
That is normally set to 8 Pixels - I prefer 4 or 5

Ryan,
So I think this classifies as a bug and will report it. I do find there's a lot of difficulty making driveways match the slope of the road they connect to. Terrain object should fit the terrain.
It also seems that a wide driveway (30' in my case) doesn't cut the curb correctly when the road slopes about 2'.

I have created a terrain with a road, sidewalk and a driveway. I want the driveway to have a wider width at the road than at the sidewalk, not a radiused flare.
- I can't get this driveway to cut the curb (road dbx says "Cut Curb at Driveway")
- There's no dbx setting for an angled apron for the driveway at the road
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Need Tutorial on How to Create 6-Tier NSF Steel Wire Shelving Unit with Wheels

Hi Lisa,
Now when you place one of these from the Library you can:
Note that in the Cabinet dbx for shelves there's a drop-down list that allows you to select individual numbered shelves.
