  1. Hi Chiefs, I keep getting these lines in my elevation views that I don't know how to get rid of. They are not graphics issues because they are printing. In the attached PDF I have circled the lines I am talking about. I am attaching my plan too. The ones on the elevation sheet just show and I am not sure where they are coming from. One on the roof plane seems to be a wall poking through the roof, but in 3d it looks fine. In elevation the circled line does not show up in plan but is in layout and prints. It is not a cad line in layout. Whats up with that? Please let me know if you have had any luck eliminating lines like these and what I might do to do the same. Thank you for your help! question set.pdf HOUSE CONCEPT 2- 10-31-16.plan
  2. Here is the plan I am working on now. I want the same sort of truss conditions I have in the first plan (version 2) not sure what I changed.... Thanks! BILEADOU - PROPOSED- VERSION 3- 11-8-16.plan
  3. Hi Chiefs, I am not quite sure how to fix this attic truss issue I have. In the plan attached is the effect I want. The screen shot represents what I have. I need to find a way to have the ceiling and wall finish show in the attic room, and most importantly I want to know how to control the width of the attic truss so I can accurately show the truss we will use in the section cut. I was under the impression that the placement of attic walls help dictate the shape of the truss, but I guess that was a mistake. So, how do I control the width of the room on an attic truss, and what conditions do I need to get the room finishes to show? Thanks for the help! BILEADOU - PROPOSED- VERSION 2- 9-23-16.plan
  4. I am not sure what is going on still. I will have my ink sooner than later, and the engineer I am working with said he could work off the scaled 11x17 for now. It is still concerning though. Thanks for printing Mr. Page, I guess that is why you got the name, right? Seriously though I appreciate it. I will just have to see for myself what happens with my plotter. Thank you Mark for checking it out with Bluebeam review, I have never used that program before but I think I will check it out, it sounds like it is super handy for checking PDFs. Yoda, I have the sheet set to ARCH D and I always publish to scale, so I think it has to be something with the plotter settings. Than you for suggestion I do. Lew: I started using the border a little while ago when I had to reformat my template to fit on ANSI D. Right now there is a 2" border because of the offset of ARCH D and ANSI D. Do you know if the Layout border effects the way things are published to PDF, or if it affects printing? I thought it was just for a reference during layout setup.
  5. Alan: The reason the notes are off like that is because I usually publish to 22x34 so I can scale back down to 11x17. The reason I need ARCH Dis because that is the scale my engineer wants to print at. William: Thank you for checking it out, I am just curious though why Mark says it is in scale for the most part. According to his mark up that dimensiopn shows 30' Mark: Thank you very much, your work makes me think I am on the right track. I printed the document 50% on 11x17 and it scaled perfectly, so it should print to scale at arch d as well, just with a larger border. Perry: I am pretty sure I had it set "to scale" but I am not sure. This is my new one, this is the one that scales at half. it should just be a 22x34 title block inside an arch D sheet. Let me know if it is better or worse if you can, thanks alot for the help, I really do appreciate it very much! BYRONE - APPROVED FOR ESTIMATING - 11-2-16 -ARCH D.pdf
  6. Hi Chiefs, I hope this not a misuse of this forum, but I have a PDF here and I would like to know if it is in scale at ARCH D, I would check it out but I just ran out of yellow ink, and now I cant even print black and white until I replace it. An engineer is working on this and he claims it is out of scale, this is my new PDF, and I think I did it right. If anyone can confirm this, they will be added to my list of exceptional humans. Thank you so much for the help! AB BYRONE - APPROVED FOR ESTIMATING - 11-1-16 - ARCH D.pdf
  7. Thank you guys! Yeah strip pattern is what I needed, I guess the spacing is too large at the default to see what I was going. Changed it to 6" like in chopsaws example and now its all awesome!
  8. Hi Chiefs, I am trying to make this T-111 material, just using the vertical siding texture with the color green I want. I am really struggling with setting up the surface pattern. How do I set it to look like vertical stripes? Thank you for your help! AB
  9. That is good to know, I will keep that in mind for future projects where I might need to independently edit a particular view. Thanks for the help! AB
  10. Hi Chiefs, I am not sure what is going on here. It seems that recently when I export a view to layout I get this message (attached) saying that the view now references the "Layout Set" in my plan. I never created this Layout Set, and CA is making a new copy of that set for every view I export (I think I am at Layout Set 7 now). Does anyone know why this could be happening and what I can do to get it to stop? Your help is greatly appreciated, so thank you! AB
  11. I used a combination of both methods, I think it worked out pretty good! Thanks a bunch! AB
  12. Hi Chiefs, I am doing this foundation plan where I am supposed to show new construction. If you look at the screen shot I was able to distinguish new walls from old walls and demolished walls with different wall types, but I dont know how to change the display of the stem wall footings. They are always black dashed lines. Does anyone out there know how to change their appearance, preferably to a gray? Thank you! AB
  13. Page and Hall: thank you this was exactly what I was looking for! DZilla: I like the sound of that method alot! I think it would be very useful to establish my workflow that way too. So in the new file you make all new layer sets called new or (N) and assign all new remodel elements to include in schedule? Evolution: That workflow sounds interesting and I think it could have a lot of merits, for instance being able to generate some useful elevation data to display in layout and to make sure you are only working with the renovation windows. Thank you for the suggestion! P.S. hope you loose your Memphis blues!
  14. Hi Chiefs, I am trying to make a door schedule that only shows what will be new doors and I am having some trouble. It seems that if I change their layer, they will still show up on the door schedule. Its there another way to isolate items in schedules? Thank you so much! AB
  15. Thank you for all the helpful input everyone. When I built my framing I was pleasantly surprised to see everything worked out with the default settings. I can recall other projects I have worked on where the floor joists populated resting directly on the stem wall, that is why I wanted to ask first. Is there an auto regenerate all framing tool? I am going to have to adjust some room heights and want a quick way of rebuilding things. Thank you so much!
  16. What kind of settings do I need to: A) Build mud plates on top of my stem walls? and Build floor joists on top of the mud plate? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
  17. That is so awesome to hear, thank you guys so much for helping me out with this one!
  18. Can the info be exported to Excel at all?? Can you do that from the schedules
  19. Oh this is is awesome! Thanks Drawzilla! Do you know how room areas are defined? Are they just within exterior and room defining walls? Is there a way to show the areas covered by rooms, like a color key with the areas outlined?
  20. Hi Chiefs, My office does a lot of work with room areas to estimate pricing on projects. The only way I know of to display room information now is the room areas on the room labels. I am sure CA has a way for me to extract those numbers, like in a schedule, but I am not sure how to do it or where I can find that info. So is there a way for me to isolate that information? Can I export that info to an excel file with the room name? Where do I go to view the settings for room area calculations? All help is greatly appreciated! Thank you! AB
  21. William, That is exactly what I need! Is that a fixed window? Do I need to change any other settings in the window DBX? Thank you!
  22. CKD, You should post your plan file so we can look at it. Is your project new construction or a remodel? Either way I am sure you can figure out how to get it to construction documents. You might want a home designer or someone to double check it for you to see if there are any errors, but all the information you need to generate framing and foundation will be in the plan file you are working with already. Schedules are relatively simple too. Admittedly I am a rookie myself, but just to get the things you are talking about will not require someone to redraw everything in order to help you or even finish a project. I think to the seasoned CA user may be pigeonholed by their own experience, and do not have the patients to work outside their own hotkeys and defaults. I am sure you could figure it out or get help if you want! AB
