Try this... Go to the structure panel of the shower wall and change it to a furred wall. -
I don't see anything baked in. What I would do in this situation is put two barn doors together and do a panel offset on one to bring it out a little further than the other door say like 3". Then mull them and let the door symbol cover the mull in the middle.

Try 37 years of CAD. I can totally relate. Though I have come to love using Chief. Started using it at the beginning of the year. Between the forums and videos I have learned that once you learn how CA works the learning curve while steep becomes easier. Hang in there. I still work with CAD occasionally.

Im an old acad user. I toggle that all the time accidentally with the F8 key.

Try bringing the beam to the same stack level as Joists (17).

Seems like labels should always come to the top layer. Or at least have that choice in the settings.
