  1. I know, but since we use Chief to create CDs and not manuals, a door and window(s) are typically shown mulled together. The trim guys will take care of that in the field.... I am asking Chief to be consistent on their programming because nobody on earth will trim/mull units like that....unless the trimming crew do not know what they are doing
  2. Wish Chief already had a solution for this - lazy programming IMO. Sills should be the same when mulling door or window units....tired of looking for workarounds
  3. Perry, the walkline is 12" from edge of stair, correct?
  4. I would charge them a "re-use" fee after they have payed for the 1st one (concepts and CDs) I would not do it any other way
  5. What about shading the glass, making it a dark color?
  6. Autocad gives you a message or warning flag that the reference has been changed - it is up to the user to update or not - however, if you save and reopen the drawing it will update all the references automatically
  7. Looks good! I would love to see or have the ability to control the linework for hatch, sharpness of shadows, outlines etc
  8. Shadows have always been part of architecture, specially for presentation and concepts - look at antique sketches and drawings - I think having them separates me from being just a drafter - Architecture is Art -
  9. I know Revit does, even Autocad Architecture (my main tool) can do it but it does not look that good, I am sure Archicad does it and even Softplan does....Vectorworks?
  10. Larry I was just posting the settings I used, not sure about scale...
  11. What about using Technical Illustration with these settings?
  12. Scott - of course they did, the one with shadows was overdone and the stucco looks dark, too gray. I have learned that I cannot show anything that "suggests" a color to my clients, at least in the preliminary stages
  13. Justin, that looks good, wish there was a setting to sharpen up the shadows as needed.....Chief has a long way to go in regards to presentation graphics etc
  14. Glen - on the image you posted the hinge line is on the wrong side....is that a bug?
  15. I am not an expert Chief user, in fact, have not done a full project in Chief, I have been using it for concepts and 3d visuals etc. I still do my CDs in Autocad Architecture - Please take a look at the attached file - This particular client wants the drawings a certain way (specially all exterior elevations with shadows, dark glass, showing all wall materials, grades, etc, etc....> Can Chief generate auto elevations that can match the preciseness, look and style? I mean, I know it can, but will it take too much tweaking (time consuming??) Thanks for looking Raul Arise Design
  16. This is what I am looking for: (I did it in Autocad)
  17. I want to print a floor plan - the 3d top view hides the doors and windows, even with a clipped camera - Any thoughts?
  18. Is there a way to have the floor plans have a hand sketch" look?
  19. Cheryl, I found a solution on the chief site....delete the Toolbar folder in my documents....it fixed it...thanks
  20. I lost all the toolbars, was trying to import the default and it wont let me
  21. That just baffles my mind - the number one request from users and it has not been able to be fixed - who knows if X8 has a nice surprise for all of us whiners
  22. Could not agree anymore - If chief does not fix/update/improve stairs for next release I am switching to Softplan ....
  23. This has been pointed out already - I think chief subtracts walls from its SF calcs and I can prove it
  24. I don't think this is the right thing to do - specially when working with a 3d program like Chief, it might seem like a quick fix but in the long run will cause many many problems - I would rather take an extra day and fix it right, once
