I'm making an electrical plan and trying to figure out how to add my electrical line to my light fixture over the stairs - shown on the main floor. So I have a 2 way switch at the bottom and top of the stairs.

I just seen that when I was messing in layout. So when you send a view to layout, check the box for Pattern, and then you can control it? In layout, the option was there to change the Pattern line size, but changing it did nothing. But maybe I am supposed to send the view to layout checked and that offers what I may need. I will try that. Thank you!

I will most likely leave them as all the patterns (textures) are already set to 0 - So whenever I would change siding I would need to mess with this. I think I was just use to them being darker and more uniform, so I think I just give it time to grow on me.
-
That did it. So out of the box the patterns seem to be set to 0 ?? I will do some digging in help on this - Thank you again!

Thank you Eric! I am still learning the lingo. I was in that DBX but did not see the line weight. I will give that a try

They must me like 0 or 1 because no matter how far I zoom up, they stay thin, while others get thicker
-
I'm in plan view - I have not messed with any settings in layout

My roof and siding plot too thin. Not sure if it shows up in the photo

I should add that I am working in my Elevation Layer Set to try and change the hatch lines.

Really nice stuff Joey! I'm trying to find the layer that controls my elevation hatch lines. They are too light/thin. I tried the Walls, Hatching and Walls, Normal but that does not change in the elevations. Anyone want to guide me to the right layer, please? And sorry Joey about getting on your case when I first got into Chief. You were right about letting ADT go. I have been drawing a number of houses now on Chief and when I need to go back to ADT for a condo project, I get all confused and actually like Chief better - in a lot of ways!

My Chief Skills - Screened Porch Library
Steve_Nyhof replied to SNestor's topic in Offering Services
Highly Recommended! I saved a ton of time purchasing Steve's porch kits/tools/options. I have been using CAD for over 30 years now and am very capable of figuring this out in Chief in time. But why? Just get creative now using what is already created for you! I add screen porches on my designs all the time here in Western Michigan. More than enough options are included which offer that perfect touch no matter what style you are designing for your client. -
I should have expanded my comment. I am not rotating because it does not help me. Just commenting on the fact that the rotate text in the text defaults is related to rotating the plan. I am trying to find a way to maintain the text orientation when I reverse (mirror) the plan. Is there any option to maintaining the text when reversing the plan?

I do see that when rotating a plan using the "Rotate Plan View..." tool, it works. I may have rotated a plan less than 10 times in 40 years. I have mirrored a plan many times.

I found a post in another forum discussing the reversal of a plan and how it also reverses (rotates) vertical (sideways) text. It was not solved. I had to reverse a plan today and once done, I needed to rotate all my vertical text 180 so they were read from the right. I went into the defaults and set the text to rotate and also not to rotate, but get the same results. Does anyone know how to reverse a plan and keep the text reading from the right? Thank you

So I think I have a process now. The lower floor needs the halfwall (solid rail) follow the stairs. The top floor does not show a wall - I even made a pony wall and tried the options to go thru floor, etc. Then I added a small return of the wall where the halfwall meets the stairs on the top floor - this completed the wall. Then i was able to put the angled wall up under it. I think it looks good in plan view and 3D.

Wow! I think I just did it by adding a solid rail wall on the lower floor. It still only shows the wall on the lower floor and not on the upper floor. Maybe I'll try a pony wall.

I'll keep working on it. The cap is on the lower stairs but the wall is following the higher stairs also without a cap. Doing it this way only shows the wall on the lower floor and blank on the upper. I'm still digging...

I think it may be because I have a halfwall on the top floor - I may need to turn my lower wall into a solid rail - trying that now

I was messing around with my template wanting to get some more things in place for my stairs and defaults. I ran into this before and just moved on, but now I am drawing homes using Chief and need to find a way to angle or follow the stairs with a halfwall. Thank you SND_D_Residential Template.plan

Hello, I have a soffit that just wants to be angled. I auto created the roofs and this happened. So I deleted that part and made my own - same thing. So I mirrored the rear roof at 45 into place - same thing. I have included the plan - anyone know why this is happening or how to fix it? SND1833 Norm Jones Residence.plan
