I think I found (A) - see image - Display Molding Edges

Ok, so I have 2 symbols - E and F Each were made into 3D blocks and then saved as a Symbol with Z sizing. Now I can adjust the base and the column separately. Thank you Mark! I have some small indescrepencies... The base cap (A) is made with a counter and chamfer molding. The base trim on the column (B) is a copy of the base. However, the base cap is missing the horizontal line that shows up in the column molding trim. If I make an architectural block and save that to the library, it shows fine, but then I do not have the sizing offered by the symbol. When I make it into a symbol the horizontal line is missing. Yet, the column molding trim, top and bottom (B), are each copies of the base cap (A), made into 3D blocks and then into a symbol for sizing. And BTW, the sizing is amazing! Now I can make up a number of bases and columns to be used by themselves or stacked. And, I saved the base at 0 to Floor, (and it is 38" high to the top of the cap) and then saved the column bottom at 38" to floor. So they stack up perfectly. So, any thoughts on the missing horizontal line on (A)? Then on (C), It saves with the chamfer on two edges but not on the other two edges?? Then on (D), is there a way to dash some of the lines? Even though I made the line types dashed, they come out solid?? Thank you column post craftsman.plan column base stone.plan

I think I did not word that right - I meant, when the solid is in there, the option to make a 3D block is not there

When I remove the solid I can make the block, but it removes my molding

ok - I have made 2D blocks, but not 3D blocks. I know it does not let me with this angled / tapered solid in there - I'm guessing.

Very good. I was thinking of that, and that might actually be better and offer more options with bases and columns/posts. Thank you!

My second question on the same topic, how can I save my 2D "block" symbol to look like I would like? The help is not helping, and I am not finding videos on this.

I am working on making a craftsman style column, but I would like to control the base and the column/post separately. In the Symbol DBX there are sizing options that seem like they should offer this option, and I've tried. But as soon as I add two Z options, the whole symbol stretches. See image. It is working to keep the box cap from stretching, so that is nice, but not what I need. If I set up the top OR the bottom, it works perfectly for the top OR the bottom. Thoughts? Thank you!

This has has been a nice learning opportunity. I love that you can move roofs up or down to work on additional roofs. That is amazing to me.

I think I figured it out. My roof was on the attic level. The rafters seem to show on the floor below - I also found the tools to raise the roof to another level to work on

Because I also built my roof over the main floor, but now I want to put dormers in the second floor and I'm not real sure how to cut my roofs on other planes. I know i seen a video on moving roofs to another floor - but I cant find it back

Very possible! Now I need to figure out how to turn it back on - the browser is not letting me upload my plan. Maybe I need to go back to an archive. Michael, I think I need to retain your services for things like this.

Yes. Now I am opening the Build Roof first to make sure of my settings and it works from there. Maybe I am doing something that is causing the default to reset ???

And now I am finding it un-checks when I leave the plan view to a 3d view and go back. That does not seem right to me.

It is a plan from my template which does not have it selected. But after creating a new plan (from the template) I set the defaults to build rafters.

I'm not sure if this is a bug, but when I set the defaults for the roofs to auto build roof framing, it works after I set it for the following roofs I build. But when I open the plan again to work on, I need to set this default back on. ???

That was too easy! It didn't work right last time, but I pulled the wall back past the roof opening - that was the key

I have watched the video of ChiefSkills by Steve Nestor, "DORMERS - Auto and Manual Types" Trying to use the idea there to cut my walls out of the living space. I think you called it "Cheek Walls". See the real picture and the angled ceiling. That is what I am trying to do. Any thoughts? SND1823 Klinke Residence.plan
