Hi I am working on a residential renovation project The current house is a standard one level 40 x 24 with have a full 8' finished basement (not walk out) with L stairs to main floor . Exterior walls are Siding 4 and will follow upwards with the same The client has requested the following revisions redesign main floor layout change main floor from 8' to 9' ceilings add second level with 8' ceilings 12/12 gable roof pitch with storage room and dormers I have done the revisions but how do I note the added one foot to the main floor on my drawings for an engineer to sign of on to get the city building permit Thanks in advance Levina

thanks, I'm hoping this will give me the much-needed space for the upper level. maybe will have to remodel the basement stairs to an L-shaped to accommodate certain built ins but for now I'm good with the placement of the straight stairs to the send level and the exterior style of the Cape Cod look still shows Again Thanks

Hi I am redesigning a house for a client. Currently it is a one level bungalow with full finished basement. 40' wide by 22' deep. They want to add a 2nd story above the main level. On the main floor there are strait stairs to the basement (sort of in the center of the 40 ft width. which he wants moved to give more floor space to main floor. Ok that's fine. - he wants a cape cod style look with gable over the upper windows ok that's fine, here is my issue - one request is large closed in foyer about 8 x 6 with interior door into main floor. this reduces depth from 22 ft to 18 ft where he wants stairs as you come in going to 2nd level. can't happen - will not leave enough walk around space on the main level. plus, I will lose valuable floor space on the 2nd level where he wants me to incorporate 4 bedroom and 2 bathrooms see the attached glass house view and let me know if these are the best style stairs to give me as much living space to work with as possible thanks Levina

I have been working on this feature for days but just cant get the look of the purple shadows shown in the video as parallel lighting You can click to to place a point light but if you drag you can create a spot light pointing in the direction you want. have done this but still not working. sort of a purple glow but I end up having the blue spot light showing on the house. When I use the Launch Assist for DARK I end up with the Caustic feature which slows down ray trace and when I uncheck the Caustic I loose the Launch Assist Which one should I use EDIT OR LAUNCH ASSIST. Also when does the sun toggled off come into it ?? The videos are great and I am learning for sure but they are not perfect and do not explain the variation in the two ray trace options unless I am missing something. I have been using CA for many years and still playing with exterior ray trace issues. My interior ray traces are totally different PBR works well but not for exterior tracing You all have been very helpful and thanks in advance for your assistance. Levina

I did what you suggested but I did not see any option for parallel light .. the screenshot attached shows the exterior rendering lighting specification dialogue options for night time rendering but does not explain how to create or find the parallel light.

Hi I have been watching the video tutorials on exterior rendering primarily the lighting features and effects . Can anyone tell me about PARALLEL lighting placed facing the buildings exterior??? I can't locate anywhere. Cad arrow does not convert ...also where do I find the lighting for the interior rooms that show a yellow glow . I've tried the electrical but only see the auto LGIHT for ceiling which is a light fixture not a glow. Its probably so easy but for the life of me I can't figure it out. My exterior renders are not bad but would be more affective with the features available in said video Much thanks Levina

HI My client has hired me to provide various exterior facade ideas for her new home build. Building is no issue but the roof is where I am having difficulty with in this particular plan, Usually I have no problem creating roofs but this has various pitches and I can't seem to follow the architects roof planes. I have been watching videos and working on this plan for several days looking at this roof for 2 full days trying to figure out the planes and roof styles in this architectural plan. I've tried applying wall material region but it does not seem to take

I purchased this new computer a few weeks ago, ALIENWARE M15 RYZEN ED. R5 When I create my designs and send them to my clients - they are not seeing what I see. The color calibration is not a cool white but a warm white I have reached out to DELL several times to check on my color calibration but nothing happens, I may have to return .. see what they can do. The basic colors on CA11 are crisp and clear on my old toshiba but duller on my Alienware in CA I am aware that computers can differ in calibrations but this is so far from reality it is scary and my clients are not happy Wondering if it is CA software when I transferred or computer Has anyone else experienced this? HI When I create the terrain it shows on the plan but not the camera view, shows 3 trees symbol on plan view and camera view. I've cleared terrain and started again but it still seems to be stuck for lack of a better word, I had this issue a long time ago and figured it out but not today, any suggestions welcome Levina cax11

Hi I have a new ALIENWARE M15 RYZEN ED. R5 laptop. I have installed my ca 11 on my new laptop. I still can't get any textures, I have updated my core library and bonus +manufactures libraries. I have no idea why I still have no textures, works on my old lap top fine but does not show in standard rendering on this new laptop, The image shows the standard rendering and the material I was trying to I was trying to add to the island. It was suggested I back up the plan - but nothing changed Any ideas thanks

Good Morning I have a new Alienware laptop M15 RYZEN R5. Here is my issue. Seems the renderings are different on both laptops but not sure if its because of the CA software or my new Alienware laptop. I see a big difference in the standard renderings as you can see by the SAMPLE IMAGES BELOW. There are no materials showing on surfaces on the alienware. Can anyone direct me as to the problem . I have been going back and forth with my license trying the CA X 11 on both, I have clients that want to make changes to their designs and I have had to go back to my old TOSHIBA laptop in order to show the changes to blend in with their current design. Is this an issue with my computer or color calibration or materials with the software?? I have been in touch with DELL techs several times to check color calibration on my new laptop . the only issue with the color /materials is on my Alienware CA Any sites regular google I look at seem to be ok . Any suggestions are greatly appreciated Levina

So I had to transfer my COA program to my new computer.. but the colors are totally off is this CA or Alienware. My blues are grey and my reds terrible / Maybe I have to adjust the colors on my computer .. My old Toshiba had crisp clear colors
