I'm using Chief Architect Premier X18 and came across the attached image showing a Cross Section/Elevation with the wall studs, floor joists, roof trusses and other structural framing clearly visible. I can create cross sections , but I'm not sure how to display the framing as shown in this example. Is this something that can be generated automatically in Chief Architect, or does the framing need to be built separately before it will appear in the section? I'd appreciate any guidance on how to achieve this type of detailed framing view.

OK what is an un-managed plan - is it a new one as opposed to current

Hi I'm having trouble getting Project Management Mode to work properly in Chief Architect Premier X18. When I try to enable it, I have to close whatever I'm working on, return to the Dashboard, and select Project Management Mode under Preferences. However, when I reopen a plan, it doesn't appear to be in Project Management Mode. When I go back into Preferences, I'm told the plan must be closed before I can make the change. I've repeated this process several times, but the same thing keeps happening. Am I missing a step, or is there something I'm doing incorrectly? I'd appreciate any advice on how to get this working properly. Cheers Levina

I'm trying to create a Saltbox-style roof similar to the one in the attached photo. Would this require different roof pitches on each side? I'm considering a vaulted ceiling on the second floor, but I'm concerned that the longer, steeper roof slope may interfere with the second-floor space and structural framing. Has anyone created this style of roof in Chief Architect? Any suggestions on the best way to approach it would be appreciated. thanks

I’m trying to create an As-Built and Remodel plan. I completed the As-Built first and then did a Save As to create the Remodel plan. My problem is that I can’t get the Demo layer to show on the Remodel plan. I’ve followed the Chief Architect training videos, but I’m obviously missing a setting somewhere. Any suggestions on what I should be checking or the proper way to set this up? Layers for Demo never seems to work Cheers

I imported a plan PDF from the builder to make changes somehow when i activated this section by accident when making wall dimention chnages

Hi Somehow I managed to bring this up while working on a wall in my plan, but I have no idea what I did to activate it or what this view is called. I’m assuming it’s some type of wall schematic. Can someone tell me what it is, how I activated it, and whether it’s something I should be using when preparing plans? I’d like to understand what I stumbled across rather than just close it and move on! Thanks!

I received a ZIP file from a developer that was originally sent by another draftsman. Can anyone tell me how I can determine how many floor plans, if any, are included in the file? When I opened the ZIP, I found a floor plan layout , but when I open it in Chief only see dwg files I’m not sure if I’m missing something, if there are other files I should be opening, or if only one floor was actually included. Any help would be appreciated! Lot 13.zip

Hi I'm designing an addition to an existing house, but I also need to renovate parts of the existing home so everything flows well with the new addition. Is there a video or tutorial that shows the best workflow for this? Specifically, how do you work with the existing house and the new addition in the same plan while clearly showing what is existing, what is being renovated, and what is new? I'd appreciate any suggestions or recommended videos. Thanks! Levina
