Hey cabinet experts...i am trying to replicate how a cabinet is actually built and replicate in ca. Chief does not show any structure at top or between drawers and doors...typically a 4" spreader bar is stapled between. Also edge tape is used on face of box and spreader bars to match doors and drawers. How would i achieve both of these things and have it adjust on cabinet resize?

Custom Material Generation with Substance Player

I am looking to do a terrazzo tile like this, any thoughts? when i import texture it spreads it across the entire tile view so it looses all detail. also do not want white grout, but blended to tile a bit. -
I would sign up for sure!

Wondering what everyone is using to share interactive 3d exterior models. i have used the following: -chief 3d viewer, poor quality -chief walkthrough video, make a fly around video, share link with client, good quality but takes too long -exporting to twin motion, I find kind of a pain, but does allow user to control season and time of day, not rtrt quality - giving client chief file and let them open in chief viewer program, clients need to be technical, also don’t really want to give out file. - exporting 360 files and making a kuula tour, quality is great, works better for inside tour, doesn’t allow user to change camera location. I wish there was an external 360 that rotated around object. looking for other options that are high quality and don’t take too long.

In my material cost subtotal for foundation is not displaying total cost. All other groups are subtotalling. I have deleted some material object calcs from items I don’t want going to material list like existing slabs etc. would this cause other items to not subtotal? All the lines are totaling total cost but just not adding up. it works on a test plan correctly.

i used a walkthru path instead and it seemed to work, takes about 4.3s/image...my walkthrough for 286 frames took about 21 min...but to process it at the end takes a while..not sure why.

Anyone know how to do a walkthrough using rtrt and have ca render each frame before it moves on to next? I did a auto rotate walkthrough with rotate angle set at 1 deg and denoise set at 1, ca still doesnt render and denoise before moving to next frame?

I think I made a single switch, I used these all over my last house. i like them too not sure how you would build multiple switch/plugs and have chief control them separately and be in a multi gang plate. But chief should…

Thanks guys, this works. But this railing is not working correctly is it?
-
Stairs on chief are the bain of my existence! My last tread at top has a rail and pickets on right side even though its tight against top rail, anyone have a solution to this? I could turn off rail on right but then it turns off at bottom too, I need rail on right at bottom.

How to make a ext insulated roof with thinner gables/eaves?
dskogg replied to dskogg's topic in General Q & A
Thanks this work around did the job. I think ca needs to start looking at exterior insulated roof assemblies and how to model them as we move to net zero type construction. in Canada net zero ready will be code by 2032 I believe.. what’s going on in others regions? -
I figured it out, my model was about 275’ from origin, once I moved model to origin it went away

All of the sudden i am getting a bright square bright spot on some of my more complex models.. Here is an example of the 360 export..along with the tour that had the original export that worked in the kitchen. Anyone have an idea whats going on? I just uploaded new studio driver, april, but this was happening before so thats why i updated driver. 3d design tour

HI everyone, I am trying to make a roof that is exterior insulated, its 11.75" thick on top of trusses, my issue is i only want the fascia and eave to be 7" deep, The only way i see to do this is to make another roof plane that is on the exterior of my wall that is non insulated and then manually move it up to match the insulated roof plane, and then i needed to manually pull up eave and gable walls to meet thinner roof plane. Is this the correct way of doing this or is there a better way?

What does protected by rejections mean?

I am considering using the desktop viewer for client to review model. I tried it myself and they can see plan, layout and all cameras. Standard , glass and vector only. It does a good job letting clients navigate large models well. My only concern is I need to provide chief file for client to use viewer. There doesn’t seem to be a way to protect file. What are everyone’s thoughts here? Am I off base?

Interactive Floor Plan / Destination Point to 360 Panoramas
dskogg replied to Ange822's topic in General Q & A
Two storey infill Reno design I use the commercial version of kuula for all my I interactive 3D tours. I get google analytics, company branded url, logo. i typically do a tour for all my designs now and send to clients. -
Hi everyone, I for some time have had issues with chief taking a long time to rebuild 3D model. I have been working with support to no avail. It generally happens when I have a 3D view open. it was so bad at times that it would take 3-4 mins if blue circle to rebuild model. now it seems it takes a few seconds every time I do anything, doesn’t seem like much but it used to be instant. I have reinstalled chief, did a clean install of nvidia driver, I don’t save anything to cloud. my user library is large. it seemed to start around beta 2 release, could have been a windows update then too. I am very frustrated and don’t know what to do.

This is what I ended up with, I have this pub/office building, I am adding another story to it, i just needed to get asbuilt close to show client and investors the before and after. The glazed roof is all wonky, I will have to do more detailed measurements next time i get to site.. I made roof 1" thick glass, use roof planes to drop in roof beams under and then copied and pasted roof beams above to represent glass frames...kind of crude but I think it will work for now,
-
Rene, can you tell me what settings you used? and i you want a glass curtain wall to line up with roof mullions?
-
Ryan, how is this going to change things? chief couldnt even model what i showed correctly in the first place, must be too complicated being so close to roof edge?
-
not sure how to make that work?
-
It’s kind of a aluminum curtain frame that goes up and slopes up roof.

HI everyone, i know this pic is very poor, any thoughts on how to replicate the sunroom for this project in chief?

Hi there, this might seem like a dumb question, but my experience with photo editing software is near zero, how do I exactly use alignment tool to move each layer to the corners? And if you can tell me this I am sure I will need to know how the flip tool works. Much appreciated, Mick.
