good luck with that one, at least your at Disneyland, where nothing is built to code.
That's because Goofey is the code inspector! ;o)
-
I thought I tried that but did not get the icon to unblock???? Maybe I was doing something else. After a while you
forget what you did and didn't do! Thanks guys!! Got it!

Here you go

I sure am missing something. The cad block comes up when I open cad block management for the plan but when I open the symbol and go to cad block and scroll down it is not in that list.
-
Michael,
I had already done that and have the cad block enlarged BUT when I open the symbol for the switch that enlarged cad block is not available.
What I am doing wrong?
-
I have a cad block for a duplex switch and cannot figure out how to enlarge it. Been in and out of cad block management, cad detail management and have added a version to my user library but cannot seem to find how to get it into the plan and substitute it for the existing. Can someone slap me upside the head???

Nice Justin! I love Lumion's water features. Watching the video the thought came to mind that I hope they don't have college age boys. I can see a weekend when mom and dad are away, they have a party and some knucklehead(s) try to jump from the 2nd floor windows into the pool! YIKES!
Thanks for sharing!

Eric - Great! Thanks for that. I will look into it further tomorrow. Just one question.
Dos that build over the plywood or just the framing? I will check tomorrow to see
if I can determine the answer but thought I would ask now having just seen the video.
-
I know this has been discussed but I cannot remember or find a video on framing a roof over another. Does anyone have a link or suggestion?
-
I am with Jintu on thos one......;o)

Try shutting down chief and restarting. Can't hurt. Maybe even reboot computer.
-
Well at least now I know it's not just me........
-
Now that is crazy. I just re-opened Chief and it is working. I know I had selected the doors before
and it was still grayed out. Must have spooks in my machine.
Thanks Greg.

OK, thanks guys. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something.

Is there a way to have auto generated collar ties? I have been doing mostly kitchens and baths with a few decks and porches
thrown in over the last many years and am now working on a 1,000 sf addition with hip roofs.
-
OK, clicked just outside the wall and got theat and changed the material. There was no indication of default listed.
BUT why doesn't it change with a change in the wall type??? I don't get it.
-
The room material is for the inside of the wall. It is the default drywall. I did not paint anything.
Try drawing a exterior wall. Open the dbx, go to wall type and copy and then rename and change the exterior material
and see if it changes. I bet it doesn't. I think the COPY function somehow overrides the change in exterior wall material.
-
I think moving things to the user libraries is the best method at this point. IMHO.
If you did it consistently it would be pretty painless. HOWEVER, the original setup........not so much! ;o(
-
Michael- this is an exterior wall that spans several rooms. Why would a rooms default material make any difference?
But to answer your suggestion the default DW material is set for the room(s).
-
copied a stucco wall, renamed it, changed attributes, using James Hardie exterior plank
and have it selected. BUT it does not show up. It stays stucco. I can post the plan but want to see
if this is still a residual problem from the previous new wall type problem. Input please

OK, thanks guys!

I have a client who wants her cousin to help them with things. He is an Autocad user. What is the best method for exporting for that? I did a DWG export of all used layers. it is only 497 KB. Is there also a method for 3D export? Not sure what version he has. I have only imported 2d CAD for trace over in the past. Never had to export for this situation. JUst looking for some heads up, pointers etc.
Thanks.
Roof Overframe AGAIN
in General Q & A
Posted
OK, I have tried to rework this hip roof to be able to do an overframe but I cannot get two roof planes to join. EVerytime no matter what I check, select it goes all kaflewy. (technical term)
Can someone please take a look and see if ou can get the two roof planes to join? After rhat I KNOW I will struggle with tying in the additional ones. One thing at a time. I want to show how the roofer is actually going to frame it. Chief will do the auto roof and frame but it comes up with all perfectly connected ridge and hip lines when it will actually be overframed in a couple of sections.
