About Me
On July 4, 2008 my life changed forever! A single bike motorcycle accident left me with 16 broken bones and on total life support for six weeks. I spent most of the next year in and out of hospitals but eventually lost my left leg due to complications. Thanks to the VA I got extensive rehab and a prosthetic leg but event today, 11 years later, I can only walk short distances so I spend most of my day in a wheelchair.
My goal is to use what I have learned about life in a wheelchair to design and build a home for my wife and me. Once completed I want to use our home to help educate local contractors, architects the importance of understanding the real-life needs of an individual in a wheelchair. Adding a few grab bars and ramps do not make a home wheelchair accessible.
