Beginner issue - how do I see my stairs on second level?

I can't seem to get my stairs to show up on the second level floor plan. I did draw them in the first and I have an open to below area so I can't see why it should be visible.

 

Couldn't find anything on this searching the forum, I assumed the Floor Above Display would affect this but no.

Attach the plan if you want an accurate answer. We might get lucky guessing but it's pretty unlikely.

Most likely you have an issue with your hole in the floor platform above. Did you create a hole with the Auto stairwell tool or used railings? If railings check that they close properly, use an opening instead of a gap, and finally make sure that the room on the second floor is defined as open below.

That was it, thank you! I had created an enclosed area with railings as described in the manual but I missed changing the room type.
