JenniZ
Can anyone help and explain how I can create a custom turned leg for cabinetry or if there is a way to adjust a leg in the library already? Thanks!
KilgoreTrout
If your leg is symmetrical, you could create it yourself by drawing the profile, saving it as molding in the library, create a small round counter top, and use the new profile as a molding on the counter. If your leg is not symmetrical, as in a queen anne, I would look for a 3D model on the web that you could import.
Richard_Morrison
Not sure what symmetry has to do with anything. Draw a profile of half the leg and save as a molding, then apply to a tiny circle as a molding polyline.
KilgoreTrout
There is no easy way to create a leg that is not symmetrical in Chief. Here are some examples of legs that would be hard to do with a just a molding:
Richard_Morrison
Hmm, legs like #2, #4, #19, etc. are what I assumed the OP meant by "Turned leg" (i.e. turned on a lathe), and are incredibly easy to do in Chief. Others could be built up using primitives, or done in Sketchup and imported.
tommy1
Jen (Jenni), if you make it using a molding profile as mentioned, be careful to not have too many faces. The more perfect the curves (less faces), the higher the face count will be which could bring you to a crawl especially for vector views like elevations. Been there, done that. Just a word of caution.
