elevations not updating

I noticed a while back when I "update all views" my elevations don't update. If I add text callouts or story poles they update but any changes in structure itself does not. I have been having to manually click the viewport in the layout and manually click "update view. Is there a fix for this? I trusted the update all views since x10 and luckily caught this error in x17 a while back. It makes me an easy target of sending out drawings that are incorrect after I revise the home if I am not careful.
