Platform Framing

Hi, 
New to the forum, still getting my legs under me on CA, using X18.  I am trying to setup platform framing on my structure, but the system keeps generating the floor/ceiling system as two separate systems, is there a way to combine these so I can get one floor system between the first and second floors?

 

looking closely in this photo reveals that there is a double joist along the perimeter of the rooms above this floor, where when we frame in the field the floor system is independent of the rooms above except where an engineer calls out for additional joists under a wall or whatnot.

 

please let me know what questions you have, I will do my best to answer them.

Without your plan file we can't tell what you've done as far as floor and framing defaults.

Please post the plan file.

Your Floor/Ceiling Defaults indicate a separate Ceiling Structure.  Eliminate that and the ceiling finish will just be attached to the Floor Joists.

Just edit the Ceiling Structure (Delete the Ceiling Framing) and all should be good.

 

Other Framing Details can be adjusted in the Framing Defaults.

I believe I made the changes you suggested, but I am still getting this when I delete all the framing, then build it all back.

You might have to select every room, then edit that panel.  It's likely the defaults only effect new rooms.

 

BTW, in the future you should post questions in the Q&A Forum.  Tips and Techniques is intended for posting you tips on how to do something for others.
