HannahKucerova
Hey fellow Chief Gurus... So as with any new version, small, unexpected/unexplainable changes have started to emerge, and I am at a complete loss on this one. I've spent hours trying to get it back to how it worked for me in X17 but I give up. Wondering if anyone else has run into this or might know what this is... First screenshot is X17. Second screenshot is the same plan opened in X18. The markers in the X18 version now have a dimension listed underneath them and are in completely different locations. The extra dimension mucks up the text below it if the measured dimension is too small. If I double click on the dimension set and go through each and every setting, all settings are identical. I have no idea why the exact same file behaves two different ways. There is no setting in the marker defaults that controls this (that I can find anyway). I've looked through the forums for prior posts on other Story Pole questions, and it seems like having the second dimension under the marker text is how it works for most users (in fact there was a post from a few years ago where another user asked how to remove it, which I don't think was resolved) but somehow in X17 I didn't have it. I cannot find any setting that controls it and I don't know why it worked like that for me in X17. I really would like to get it back to how it behaved in X17 because I much preferred it and I don't have room to stretch the markers so far out to clear the text obstructions. I really hope this isn't a hard coded nonadjustable change and I am just missing something. File is too large to large to upload here but I can share it via a link if needed. I have also recreated it with just a new blank file from my custom default template plan, which is also attached. Any ideas? :-) Thanks in advance! Solution JonathanK Posted 21 hours ago Solution Share Posted 21 hours ago (edited) Try this in a test plan: DBL Click your Story Pole Dimension > Click on Extensions/Markers > Under Marker Style, click on "Define" (in the bottom right). From there in the Marker tab under "Label" you should have a "Text Below Line" option. There is a selection that says "Match Text Above". Uncheck that, and set it to something different. Click on "Define". Edit that text style to have a character height of 0". Does that get you what you want? If so, I would create a new text style called "No Show" or something like that. Make it have the text height of 0" and use that for anything that you might want to "hide". Either that...or make the font color white. Just my thoughts. JonathanK
This is how it looks using the above method.
JonathanK
One final thought...as I'm looking at this a little closer...you might have to change your marker style to "Level Line" before you make that change. Then after your change, if you put it back to "Point Marker" you should be good. I think when it's already set on "Point Marker" the selection I indicated above is all greyed out. This creates a work around to get it very close to what I had previously, and I can work with this! I still sort of wonder why it changed at all, but I guess that shall remain a mystery. Thank you so much!
