utdream
I've seen a couple threads talking about this and I just want to voice my support for a capable Linux port. I dropped Windows a couple years ago when they were still talking about some of the crap they had planned for Windows 11 (Copilot, recall, ads in your OS, etc). No, thank you. I actually have some respect for myself and refuse to be abused by an OS that I pay for. The vast majority of the time, Linux exceeds my expectations, and I almost always find solid replacement applications for the things I need to do. I'm delighted to have all our PC's running Linux now. Unfortunately, I never bought another version of Chief because I could not get the version of Chief that I had working on Linux. Chief is one of the few applications that I actually miss and would really appreciate it if it had a Linux version. I've tried things like Sweet Home, and Sweet Home is fine, but Chief has features that I appreciate and am willing to pay for. I will not be going back to Windows, and Macs are uninteresting for similar reasons. With Chief already using QT, I'm hopeful that there can be a Linux port for Chief at some point in the future. I've felt this way for several years now. Sincerely, A hopeful former client.

I have a dedicated windows machine just for running Chief which I use over RDP on my local network. My main desktop is Linux Mint Debian Edition which I've been using for several years now. I switched to LMDE back when Win7 was loosing support and didn't like where Win10 was going. Windows 11 is having an identity crisis, it doesn't know whether it wants to be an operating system or an AI client...
