How to stop light switches from changing single pole to 3 pole

I am placing a fan/light in a room and want to have two legs, one for the fan and one for the lights controlled by single pole switches.

When I place the single pole switches, then connect them to the fan/light, they automatically switch to 3Way switches.

How do I turn off this setting?

Open the switch dialog and turn off "automatically change switch type when wiring".
