Interior Square Footage Calculation

Is there a way to calculate square footage EXCLUDING exterior walls?  Thanks.

I don't think you can do that automatically, at least not very easily.  I would probably just generate the living area polyline and manually edit it to exclude the exterior walls. 

 

You might be able to get it to work automatically by temporarily changing the exterior walls to have a zero thickness wall type or by messing around with the main layer but this might create all kinds of other problems.
