stevenyhof
I made this spreadsheet to help me calculate my footing sizes. I am not an engineer, but now I can make my footings more to the size they should be and if an engineer should be required to verify them. I mainly use it for my foundation footers, but also for decks and exterior rooms that are supported by posts and footings. Maybe there is an engineer out there to verify that I have my calculations correct. The blue fields are where you enter your square foot area totals. The Defaults can be changed as they are there for my area. The results at the bottom are for both Square and Cylinder Footings. The thickness is set to 1/3 the size of the square footing. In many cases for residential, footings seldom need to be thicker than 8". Spreadsheet... Roof and Floor Footing Load and Size.xlsx I'm also including my Footings library...
