Hey Guys,

Relatively new to Chief. I just started trying to recreate an amazing railing that I saw. I have created the panel as a polyline solid. I did not do it in elevation mode...So now what do I do?? I am trying to stand it up, and give it some depth, but nothing is working...any ideas n what I am doing wrong?? Tried converting to a symbol, but that was greyed out...Nothing seems to be working

Sounds like you created a p-line solid in plan view? 'Might' work if you can get a 3D shot of it. You can't create a symbol unless you are in a 3D mode.

Create the fence panel in plan view and take a 3d overview. Save as a symbol and then rotate about the 'X axis and that should "stand it up."

In my experience it's better to create a symbol in the orientation it will end up in - in this example in an elevation view.

Thanks for the help..it was easier for me to export the file, then import to sketchup, and then bring it back to chief after I had extruded the image...It was a complex railing so I really did to want to have to redraw...thanks again

Really nice railing detail. I am sure others would enjoy using it. Why don't you post it here for others to use as other Chief users frequently share their talents by posting on the symbols and content page.
