sburkhead Posted March 3, 2015 Share Posted March 3, 2015 Hey Guys, Relatively new to Chief. I just started trying to recreate an amazing railing that I saw. I have created the panel as a polyline solid. I did not do it in elevation mode...So now what do I do?? I am trying to stand it up, and give it some depth, but nothing is working...any ideas n what I am doing wrong?? Tried converting to a symbol, but that was greyed out...Nothing seems to be working Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
HumbleChief Posted March 3, 2015 Share Posted March 3, 2015 Sounds like you created a p-line solid in plan view? 'Might' work if you can get a 3D shot of it. You can't create a symbol unless you are in a 3D mode. Create the fence panel in plan view and take a 3d overview. Save as a symbol and then rotate about the 'X axis and that should "stand it up." In my experience it's better to create a symbol in the orientation it will end up in - in this example in an elevation view. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
sburkhead Posted March 3, 2015 Author Share Posted March 3, 2015 Thanks for the help..it was easier for me to export the file, then import to sketchup, and then bring it back to chief after I had extruded the image...It was a complex railing so I really did to want to have to redraw...thanks again Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
