Can a Fill Style be Assigned to a Layer

[5FT-20Designs]

I want to color highlight, say LVLs for example, on my framing plan.  Is there a way to assign a solid color fill style to a layer so everything on that layer is colored in all views?

Know I can open the item to assign the color or assign a colored material so it shows in 3D views.

No...a 3d view is going to apply a  material to your framing member, so you would need a material with the color you want, but there is no way to assign a material based on the layer of the object it is being applied to.
