ChristinaW
Hello, I'm trying to fix the gable roof end conditions and a shed roof dormer. The house is a 2 story with an unfinished attic. Part of the attic will be converted into livable space. I created the roof on the second floor so that the ridge height is set. I used a polyline and cut into the roof seen in image #1. I NEED the end gable stone walls to angle towards peak and I wanted to set wood stud framing on the angle wall for the start of the dormer walls. See images above. This shouldn't take hours to do and watched multiple videos and it's not working like the videos suggest.
Joe_Carrick
Create a 2nd Floor (1/16" tall) Then make walls where you have the upper roof plane. or just create a Shed Dormer for that higher roof.
DeLayDesign
Hi @ChristinaW In order for the attic to be usable space, it needs to be built like a floor. So your plan will tech have '3 floors' Once you've accomplished that it's a matter of forcing your roof to sit at the correct plate height (AKA - the second floor wall height) Once you've done that Chief should understand what you're trying to do. I'm not entirely sure why it's not building the attic wall for you now, it should be; but it's hard to know without seeing the plan file.
