v10 Raytrace Struggles

Good day all,

I am using v10 on a MAC. I'm an intermediate user and don't use Ray Trace a TON. 'Doing my first set of traces is v10 and all my setting seem to be off. My ceilings are glowing, the lighting doesn't seem right. Blah blah blah. I have imported defaults from an older file that had my best settings.  I have a presentation this afternoon to sell this project anyone able to open this file and see what my deal is?? Oh and I can't figure out where to change my backdrop, either. Did it move?

What am I missing? I'm sure it's simple.

I'm not much of a RTer- There are others, like Graham.

My take would be to switch to PBR and forget about RT. Attached- fixed one exterior wall (brick with two walls in one place somehow), deleted extra roof, placed and saved 3 PBR cameras. There were no saved cameras in your plan so could not tell what was the issue to begin with. I did not do much with the PBRs (and there were missing textures) So they could be improved, these are almost OOB just altered a few setting to avoid problems.

Copy each camera, move it a little and play with the settings- take a look at the lets PBR thread. Fastest way to get something decent for meeting IMO.

Background is in individual cameras and/or camera defaults.

I've been working in Chief Architect x12 and just upgraded to x13. I hoped that the upgrade would fix this problem I working on.

All of the walls are meant to be this warm wood tone. In pbr mode, the sloped ceilings are practically glowing and washed out. Some of the walls also have this super washed out brightness to them and occassionally I get a really grey wall as seen in the bedroom. In x12, that grey wall was showing as solid black. I can confirm that the wood on the walls and ceiling are all the same materials with the same properties. In the bedroom, all the lights are off while the living space lights are on, without it affecting the brightness. I've adjusted many of the lighting settings but everything else in the model is correct. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have been trying to create more photorealistic renderings with Chief as I don't have the current budget for additional software.
I have been playing with the CPU Ray Trace option and keep coming up with grainy images that seem darker than I'd like.
I have played with the lighting and sunlight and I've pushed the resolution higher and higher every time I try with no luck.
If adjust the contrast of the image it makes it a little brighter, but it still is lacking.
The first image went for 60 passes, the next one was 40 and the 3rd was 50 passes.
I would love some insight and recommendations on fixing the grainy look as well as just creating more realistic images!

      Thank you!

I am using Premier X13 on iMac

Of Course on a deadline and never experienced this in 20 years!  HELP!  See attached.  Working on elevations.  Using exactly the same cross section elevation, but one is coming up as "Active Defaults" and one is coming up as "1/4" Defaults", there is not an option for "Active Defaults" in the drop down.  Creating havoc on Notes.  Have not idea how to fix this.  Thanks!  Mardie

I'm sort of new to CA and I've noticed that every time I go to set up my PBR it takes me FOREVER to get it looking good. This time however it has taken me forever to make it look good and I still cannot figure out how to fix this.
Can someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong, I find PBR to be so challenging.
