BIRCHES
Hi there, Apologies in advance for posting what will probably seem to be a simple fix but this roof height issue I am having is driving me crazy. I am currently using X5 and have an extension to a house where the roof height should replicate that of the existing house. No matter what I change the roof for the extension is always lower than that of the main house. Editing ceiling heights doesn't make any different and I have reverted to default settings for all walls ceilings roofs etc but nothing changes. For clarity the cable on the right in image 1 below needs to be the same height as the gable on the left. I have messed about with nearly every logical setting and cannot get to work. If all ceiling heights are equal, should the roof not be of the same height? Thanks for your time.
RL-inc
Hard to tell for sure but it appears that the span on the addition is narrower than the main body. If so you need to adjust the pitch and set the ridge heights to match. If the spans are equal than plate heights may need to be adjusted. In general the overall roof design doesn't look right. The hip on the right side of the main body seems odd to me .....but that is just my opinion.
BIRCHES
Thanks RL - That may be due to the right side of the extension being angled due to it running along a boundary. So for clarity the extension is 6.5 metres wide at the front and reduced to 4.5 metres at the back due to the boundary angle.
RL-inc
Yikes That's quite the design conundrum. IMO no matter how you work this roof you will have an odd look based on the footprint. Maybe more of a modern slant with a simpler shed plane would help.
BIRCHES
Yeah! So now having changed the pitch on the extension roof so the height is correct and relative to the main house it then does this. Any attempt to move that piece that is jutting out breaks the roof and creates various gaps.
