stpagr
Hey everyone. Still very new to this software so bear with me. I'm recreating my home in this software as I'm doing a complete basement reno job soon. I want to build it here first so I can plan better. I've added the foundation and walls and everything I thought I needed to do but when it comes to putting in the stairs from the basement to the main floor I do not know how to tell the main floor to open up. The end result will be a door at the top of the stairs leading down to the basement. With no opening for the stairs there will obviously be no door. I've uploaded my plan, at least what I'm working with so far. I've measured both the inside and outside of the house to get the measurements as dead-on as possible. Any and all help is greatly appreciated...... Basement layout.plan I'm using the Home Designer Pro 2017 (64-bit) version of the software. Chopsaw
Are you getting an error message using the Auto Stairwell tool ? (#272017017)
stpagr
No error but also no opening on main level.
Chopsaw
I am not really a stair expert but I was able to get the Auto Stairwell tool to create an opening with X9 by moving the stairs over against the Garage foundation wall. If that works for you you could then move the stairs back the 5 11/16" and edit the opening manually.
stpagr
Thanks. I will give this a try. Right now the stairs are just "there". I have not measured the actual location but it is fairly close. Is X9 much different than what I am using?
Chopsaw
Yes X9 is the Professional version and has many more features but costs a lot more money. There is a special forum for HD users also where you can get better software specific help. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/
