tds_cc
After watching tutorials and searching on here, I can't seem to figure out how to build spread footings for my basement posts. I want a 24" x 24" x 12" deep footing under my 4" slab. How is this done?
joey_martin
When you place the post there should be one added automatically. Just set the default(s) for the post type, and the footing type for that post.

tds_cc
Got it, thanks! The confusion for me was that you are actually building what CA is calling a "slab" as the footing and then offsetting it from the floor. I kept clicking on "has footing" and making the slab 0" and that wasn't working. Silly me, I just expected that CA would call a footing a footing. Instead they call a slab a floor and a footing a slab. Quirky. Thanks for affirming I was on the track.
joey_martin
I think you may still be confused. I build/design basements almost exclusively. Chief calls is a post footing. You can set the defaults to go just beneath the slab, with the top of the basement slab, or if no slab is present, you set the top to the amount of exposure you want above the grade. Anyway...the tool in my post above will clear up the confusion.
