Free Texture Library: Pixar One Twenty Eight

I’m always on the lookout for good asset libraries. Here’s an interesting one that I thought you might enjoy: a library of 128 tiling texturemaps by Pixar, released under a Creative Commons license! While they date from 1993, Pixar has upgraded them for release. Enjoy!
Pixar One Twenty Eight includes:
- 15 beautiful bricks
- 13 fine fabrics
- 2 fences
- 3 floors
- 15 ground covers
- 8 marvelous metals
- 8 terrific roofs

Updated for 2015
The texture library has been upgraded and now includes bump and normal maps. While created in 1993, this library still has many potential uses.

You can re-size using free SketchUp Make.
Also, materials you can be easily changed in SketchUp Make.
Useful if you download a lot from 3D Warehouse.

Polygons 57723d Models will slow down Chief.
Place 3d models on separate layers so you can control which 3d models are required for
particular "scenes" or camera views.
Turn off 3d models when they are not required ( which is most of the time)

Shear wall

A typical timber shearwall is to create braced panels in the wall line using structural plywood sheathing with specific nailing at the edges and supporting framing of the panel.In structural engineering, a shear wall is a structural system composed of braced panels (also known as shear panels) to counter the effects of lateral load acting on a structure.
Wind and seismic[1] loads are the most common loads that shear walls are designed to carry. Under several building codes, including the International Building Code (where it is called a braced wall line) and Uniform Building Code, all exterior wall lines in wood or steel frame construction must be braced. Depending on the size of the building some interior walls must be braced as well.
A structure of shear walls in the center of a large building—often encasing an elevator shaft or stairwell—form a shear core.
Shear walls resist in-plane loads that are applied along its height. The applied load is generally transferred to the wall by a diaphragm or collector or drag member. They are built in wood, concrete, and CMU (masonry)

Plywood is the conventional material used in wood (timber) shear walls, but with advances in technology and modern building methods, other prefabricated options have made it possible to inject shear assemblies into narrow walls that fall at either side of an opening. Sheet steel and steel-backed shear panels in the place of structural plywood in shear walls has proved to provide stronger seismic resistance.

I am sure as we move forward in this new medium we will get a better idea as to how to use it.
My first experience with 1:1 scale on a Vive was like WOW, THIS IS NEAT!
The software is continuing to be developed as the hardware improves in its capacity to handle the
computations required. There are interesting years ahead as the software settles out and the front runners appear
Right now Sketchfab is making some interesting additions with "sound" and "annotations".
Those ChiefTalk user who are interested might want to drop over to the various talk groups
and see what is in the works.

There seems to be some confusion regarding the licensing for the plugins. Just to be clearwhen you purchase a license it is permanent, it will work forever.
There is no need to renew your license for continuous functionality.
