Guten Morgen Chiefers, Any suggestions on how to indicate a Juliet Balcony from a space on the second floor overlooking the Living Room on the first floor? In 50 words or less? Sort of like this photo: http://www.houzz.com/photos/8758752/Silverleaf-Home-1-mediterranean-kitchen-phoenix Thanks, JK

I worked around that. I just deleted the one that wasn't showing up, then copied the one that was to that location. Walla. JK -
Have plumbing appear on slab foundation
Korel_Design replied to Korel_Design's topic in General Q & A
OK... I have one toilet appearing on the reference layer, another is not. I opened both's Fixture Specification DBX from the Floor <1> and they are both on the "Fixtures, Interior" layer. Wassup? JK -

Have plumbing appear on slab foundation

I'm going to study using the Floor Reference. None of my Sinks appear on the reference. The Tubs and Toilets do. How do I get the sinks appear? Thanks, JK -
Have plumbing appear on slab foundation
Korel_Design replied to Korel_Design's topic in General Q & A
Because the location of some of the fixtures do not show up and I need to precisely bulls eye the plumbing penetrations on the slab. It cost a lot of money to move a toilet over a few inches. The floor reference doesn't do that. I will look into William's suggestion. Thanks, JK -
Is there a way to get the plumbing fixtures to appear on the <0> Level or slab foundation? My plumber likes me to give him rough-in dimensions and not on the floor plan, sheet <1>. Not the Reference Floor Display either. Tnx de JK

Any ideas where I can find an Aermotor (Windmill) block? JK

Thanks Rich, You're close..... It had to do with my Windows 10 Task Bar. It dawned on me last night that the last thing I remember doing was adjusting the size of the W10 Task Bar. I reset it and the Chief Status Bar returned. The CA Status Bar was hidden behind the W10 Task Bar. I almost feel silly, JK
-
The "File Save As" was an easy one. Thank you so very much. I never thought to look there. However, the Status Bar is On and the screen space is there but no text. When I click the Status Bar Off, the screen space goes away. I turn the Status Bar back on and the Screen Space re-appears with no text. Tnx, JK

OK, I did something that caused my rendering timer to disappeared. You know where it says how many passes and how much time has passed. I combed through the Defaults/Preferences and nothing jumped out at me. It is apparently a Global setting because I opened a new plan from a template I haven't used and there is still no status indication. I must have done it while looking for how I can decrease the amount of compression CA gives to the saved JPEG. That's part two of this question. Is there a way to save a rendered image with less JPEG compression or better yet, save as a TIFF?
-
That looks very good. I will try that. Thanks. JK

Here is a better way. File>Export>Export Meta File EMF... Then open in Paint, Save as PNG. A much better PNG than what CA Exports. If it's a little fuzzy, I open in Topaz Labs InFocus and make it very sharp. Hopefully, X9 will have a better image export. Tnx, JK

I tried this Greg.... The image is very blurry and not very good resolution at all. Very Blurry. Until the programmers at CA can give me a button to click, I will print/save as a PDF then load that into PS to convert to a PNG I can use. Thanks for your help. JK

Sounds good. JK

Thank you Greg. I know all about Vector Images and Pixel (Raster) Images. The final file needs to be something I could display on a website. At least 256 colors and about 1200 pixels wide x 800 pixels tall. Either a GIF or PNG. I use JPG on all my renderings and photographs. Apparently, Chief Architect can not provide a direct output of such a file. (hint hint). Maybe it's there I just haven't found it yet. JK

Tnx for your reply. What I wound up doing was Save As PDF as you suggested, then convert the PDF to a raster file in either PS or my printer software. KIP Request has a utility to create a Hi Rez raster image. I just figured the "File>Export>Export Picture (BMP,JPG,PNG....)" could create a Hi Rez PNG so I can use it on my website without having to juggle the image through several utilities such as I do. Tnx, JK

Hello All, How do you create print quality or web quality graphics of your floor plans? I tried the File>Export>Export Picture (BMP,JPG,PNG....). I preferred the uncompressed TIFF files before I load them into PhotoShop. The export is totally not acceptable. Very low resolution. I even tried a screen capture using Snipit. That was better than CA's Export but still not the quality I am use to. Or.... If I could export a HPGL2 PLT file. I have software that I use with that other CAD program that I use to create my web graphics. Thanks, JK

Send to layout Line Thickness Question......
Korel_Design replied to Korel_Design's topic in General Q & A
Here is what I finally figured out regarding this. The File>Print>Drawing Sheet Setup>Advanced Line Weight Options, do not seem to effect the line weights on the actual elevation image of the plan. It does control the line weights of the dimensions and the Layout Template Borders. I went from one extreme to the other and no change in the looks of the elevation image but the dimensions and the border did change. I finally settled on the setting of 200mm for the most pleasing look off my KIP Printer. I set the Technical Illustration>Rendering Technique Options, to Warm Blend = 0%, Cool Blend 15%, Line Thickness 15, Shadow Intensity = 0%. These setting gave me the best results. If there are other settings that control the final printed plan I would really like to know what that is. Thank guys. -
default DBX for the Wall Elevation Camera Specification
Korel_Design replied to Korel_Design's topic in General Q & A
I'm wanting to modify the look and size of the pointers. I think they're too large and make the floor plan look crowded. Right now I have to open the DBX by clicking on a pointer and change the looks that way. Tnx for the replies! JK -

Where can I find the Default DBX for the Wall Elevation Camera Specification so I don't have to go through every pointer and edit them individually. CA X8. JK -
Send to layout Line Thickness Question......
Korel_Design replied to Korel_Design's topic in General Q & A
Tnx Greg. I'm experimenting with various settings. If I adjust the settings in the Advanced Box it changes the thickness of the borders of my layout. When my elevation image looks good, then the layout borders are too heavy. It's just trial and error until I find the proper balance. JK -
