  1. See my earlier post on a handicap railing. I made it in elevation with cad lines and made it into a molding.
  2. Thanks Robert. I was hoping that CA might have a library item for this. Many on the forum do commercial work and the handicap railing is a must. I like your way of doing the work but my clients demand more detail. This is what they want:
  3. I just made a handicap ramp. The default is 1:12 in the program. So I made an aluminum railing with the extensions to fit the ramp. It fastens to the standard post in the default railing. I sent this aluminum railing to the library so it could be used again. The problem is when I try to resize it, it changes the angle. Is there a way to stretch it so as to maintain the same angle? So far I have opened the symbol specification and rotated it +/- deg to adjust, but Ithough there was a way to imput the stretch planes so this would maintain the angle as I lenghten or shorten the rail.
  4. Mick thanks for your observations. This is a plan in progress and when I came to the schedule there were several things that threw me, as outlined above. Has anyone noticed the function of the ADDED heading vs the RENAME heading difference? Or is it just me?
  5. Ok this is what I have found. You can add column headings. This is easy BUT once you add the heading (in the DBX) it will not appear in the components of the item. It will appear in the schedule. So now the question.....How do you get it to show in the components box? I found two work arounds. One: Just type in the schedule with the text box. Works but not very good as the hardware will not up date if you change the item. Two: Rename one of the predefined column heardings (ones that you do not use, in my case "Code"). This will update from the components box. This leaves the question.....Why let the user ADD a new heading (in addition to the preinstalled ones) if it will not show up in the components box so as to be updated? The subcategories are straight forward but they only add to the material list from what I found. I never saw the subcategory in the schedule.
  6. Thanks Joe..... I will try the sub-category step after reviewing the tutorials, etc.
  7. OK.......Try this: select the window schedule (cad detail).......open it up and added column (in this case I selected something from the left column and renamed it to "Hardware". It appears in the schedule (Great). Now select the window in the ADA bath and go to the "components" DBX. Do you see "Hardware" as a column? No. Am I missing sonething or doing something wrong? Note: I am adding Lexan over the window in the comments column and the sash lock in the hardware column.
  8. Mick......The schedules are on the floor plan sheet in the layout (A-6). I tried the schedule update last night and when I removed the column "Comments" it up dated to layout. The problem was when the schedule, in cad detail, showed 2 doors (the same happened in the windows schedule) the number would not update in layout, it still showed one. So it appeared just this one column (window/door count) would not update. As far as the link to other plans, I don't know what is up with that. How to break the link (with an unrelated plan)? Missing layer sets???? no clue Thanks for your observations. Hopefully I will get ahandle on this.
  9. Here are the layout plans and the plan. I had corrected the columns in the schedule. Still not sure how that happened but I will try to dulpicate it. Like I said the schedule in cad detail updates but not to the layout. Just as a side note, this was a house built in 1846. Every piece of wood was split from a tree (not sawn). The only time a saw was used was to cut the split lumber to length. For those on the forum who are contractors just think of the labor it took. 10. I am aware of this. This is a plan in progress. Thanks for looking out for me.
  11. Look at this........I always wanted to configure the column headings. I did not know we could do this, even by accident.
  12. Here is the correct ziped plan. Oesterreicher Plans (3).zip
  13. This is what is so strange. I did not add a new heading. I just filled in the "Components". Oesterreicher Plans (2).zip
  14. I read the post on previous forum topics but did not find an answer to a problen I am having. The schedule will update in the cad window but not in layout. Am I missing a step? Also on a side note, when typing in components of a door schedule under "Comments" I put in the hardware schedule group. In the schedule I had a new heading "Hardware Group". How did this happen? It also listed the hardware group under "Comments", so I had it twice. The schedule customized itself with a heading I did not add. Any idea why?
  15. It's great to hear that everyone is doing great. I am amazed at the lack of detail that you can get away with in your area. I wish I had it so easy. In fact I remember when I could just show a floor plan, elevations, section view, site plan. Now I have dozens of details that I must show. I have learned to calc. the negitive and positive pressure of the window requirements and door, shear wall design with nailing patterns for each and this is just the begining. Florida has gone over the top and made it difficult and expensive for any plans. I do mostly remodels and the work keeps comming.
  16. Thanks.......I have a lot to learn
  17. Thank you for your help. On layout sheet 5 I have the floor plan that does not have the handicap label, but on layout sheet 8 I resent the plan and it had it. ?????? Before I sent the plan to layout sheet 8 I tried to relink the file but nothing happened. So I resent to sheet 8 and it appeared. The plan on sheet 5 would update as I added to the plan but when I got to the handicap signs it would not. So I tried another layout sheet and then it worked. So what gives?
  18. Try this Oesterreicher Plans.zip
  19. Well I thought..... Will try again Oesterreicher large plan.zip
  20. Sorrry I did not attach plan. Here it is.
  21. I put a number of interior fixtures in the plan such as fire extingusher, electric panel, ADA toilet etc. They all show with labels (in plan view). When I send to layout some of the labels do not show. They are all on the same layer. The item that does not show is the handicap sign label. What gives???? Thanks for any ideas.
  22. Well I found the answer. It appears that if you try to insert an appliance into a cabinet you MUST select the library item from the DBX for cabinet spec. I tried to select from the library directly and it would not work. When watching the Knowledge Base it was not clear that this is the ONLY way to do it. I think it would be a good suggestion for CA to list common errors in the Knowledge Base along with the process. Thanks everyone for your responce.
  23. So I followed the instructions in the Knowledge Base to the letter. It still did not work. Any ideas or work arounds. I use X7 premier
  24. I have this layer turned on but still no import
  25. I scaned a set of plans as pdf. Some of the plans I import to CA are fine but others will show for a split second and then disappear. What could be the problem?
