Try going to Preferences>Render> Preview Options> Software Edge Smoothing> change it to 20% if it's higher. See if that helps.

I cannot believe this transfer fee cost!!!!!!!!! Is this true Chief? I hope someone will chime in here.

I just purchased this from HP's website. I did get a custom build. I also saved some money (30%) by getting a coupon discount which is added in the check out. I'm pretty happy with it so far. This laptop also runs a lot cooler than my previous one. See my specs below and compare it with others.

Try disconnecting the wall at one end and then rejoin it. If it still does it, try deleting the window an placing another window. You can also close the program and reopen. If you have the wall framed, try reframing it.

Select the dimension and then use the "make parallel" tool to make it parallel to the framing member. Just did it.

Thanks Kbird.
I will do. I ended up upgrading to Home Designer Pro.
I am still having issues though.
I will head over to the other forum.
If you like, you can send me your plan file and place text with arrows in the plan for what you want to do. I can take a look at it. Please send me your phone number too. My email address in is my signature. I have a 25MB file limit for each email attachment. If it's over that, then zip it.

High face count symbols can and will make a huge difference in the plan especially if there is many of then in the plan. You really have to watch out for millwork. Often you won't see much of a slow down in the render views but you will in an elevation or when an elevation is sent to the layout.

I'm working with a man who has a 3-1/2 story townhouse. It's a pain doing the stairs when they're on top of each other. To make it worse, the floors heights are different and each set of stairs has 2 landings.

On my new HP laptop (Windows 8.1), you can right click on the X6 shortcut on the desktop and choose if you want it to run this program on the video card only. I did not have this option this way on my other HP laptop (Windows 7). This made a huge difference for me.

Thanks Chief for fixing the scale macro in the layout. That's a huge plus for me. I also see that you fixed the room molding polyline from making a lot of extra breaks.
-
None of that is real difficult to do in Chief. I'm doing columns like that right now on a plan. Once you know your options on how to do things in Chief, you can do most anything.

Never mind. My bad. I was using the wrong file. It seems to be installing now. SORRY!

Thank you, I will try again in the morning. I'm pretty frustrated right now and too worked up.

When I try to use the X5 downloader, it starts but when I click "Next" to start the download, I get this error:
"The server returned an error response:
403 = Forbidden"
Has anyone seen this? I tried turning off the Firewall and running as Administrator at separate times. No help.
Oh, I also deactivated it on my other laptop first.
-
I tried it in the back clip elevation too. No problems there either.

Nope. Still can't reproduce it. Is the problem only in this plan or in all plans?
-
I'm going to try something and see if I get your results.

I purchased a lot of Jay Palmer's symbol libraries (Chief Symbols) years ago back in Version 8, 9 and 10. Some of them are very good to have. I'm probably going to use one of the libraries in the next day or so that has a bunch of arched soldier courses with keystones. It has all different widths. Very helpful.

Perry, I just tried it....doing an elevation with window and door labels turned on. I can select everything. I'm not having your problem. (X6)

Jen (Jenni), if you make it using a molding profile as mentioned, be careful to not have too many faces. The more perfect the curves (less faces), the higher the face count will be which could bring you to a crawl especially for vector views like elevations. Been there, done that. Just a word of caution.

We have no idea what you're talking about. Need an image or something.

I've found that portions of soffits disappear in 3D if you run them over/through a wall (ie: from a kitchen into a hallway, it will only show in one room or the other). I make two separate soffits, one on each side of the wall, and then they display fine for me.
Soffits have always acted like this. Never run them through a wall.

Stop you wall at the 1st tread (not extended into the 1st tread).
Layout Question
in General Q & A

One way is to use an existing plan and a proposed plan. Have both plans linked to the layout.
