  1. It's a revised page 0. I guess I can open the new layout and copy all and paste to update an existing layout... but I was hoping for a simple command choice option somewhere in the software to "Apply New Template Layout".... or something to that effect...
  2. I have made a new Layout Sheet Template. I would like to update an existing Layout to use the new Layout Template. I know how to change the sheet size, but am unable to determine how to change the existing layout to use the new Template. Is there an easy way? Such as Apply/Choose Layout Template. LOL.
  3. Thank you David. Very helpful! I appreciate the response.
  4. Is there a reason you cannot do this? Perhaps I am trying to do something that I ought not, or am thinking about this all wrong...? But, I would like to select multiple rooms and alter their ceiling & floor structures, absolute elevations, etc... while leaving other rooms alone... When I select multiple rooms these options are greyed out; I have to select every room and run through the entire structure where floor levels are different.
  5. Yes Thanks Robert. Maybe in the future. Alas... I'll make a special wall.... haha
  6. Perry, Yeah I just knew someone was going to tell me that I was going to have to create a special wall, but on furred walls I actually prefer to drag a wall up against another... Which works OK when dealing with a single sided furred wall, but evidently CA not smart enough to do a double sided furred wall. But, if there is a way to do it the way I want to do it and have the door/window openings protrude through 3 component walls, I'd prefer that... ha ha. CMU Wall with furred walls on each side.plan
  7. Old CMU wall - Furred on both sides.... Oh come-on , how do you get the doors and windows to penetrate the wall and both furred wall sides? Amy remodelers in the bunch?
  8. Anyone used scaling with X10 yet? in X9 I used to be able to send to layout as "no scale/scale to fit" and grab a corner of an object on a layout to click and drag to change the scale of the object. Now, grabbing corner handles reshapes the object on the layout page, which is a nice add, but I would still like to be able to drag the scale of an object on a layout page. Anyone know if there Is any way to still click and drag to dynamically scale objects on a layout?
  9. Thanks. I did know how to do that, but like you said, you have to zoom in and make sure you hit the point or else you end up crating a very short segment. In most cases it was quicker and easier for me to just do as Doug suggests and "start over". I think Chief developers, if you're looking at these threads, please purchase Adobe Illustrator for a month and play with it... That's how editing poly lines should work... Very intuitive...
  10. Curt, When I click the break and drag, it changes the poly line shape... Can you elaborate?
  11. I know how to add a break in a line, but how do you remove the break? Why no right-click delete/remove? ...which would be the intuitive method...
  12. Had a devil of a time trying to modify existing plan when adding a second floor and trying to get the overall building height right.... ceiling heights kept shifting on me... After an hour I said forget it... Started from scratch, followed Solver's suggestion and from a new blank plan, was able to get it... Thanks!
  13. Not working. Too smart. I'm just trying to put trusses on top of a room within a building and it keeps telling me: No appropriate roof/ceiling planes found. Do you want to use a framing member instead... No... I just need to manually drag out a trusses on top of some walls to screw a metal ceiling to from underneath and show it in 3D. Not interested in CA's intelligence here. I just need to get this done and it's so smart it won't let me do it. So, how can I put a ceiling on top of metal studded walls inside a facility, and then use ceiling trusses placed on top of the interior room furred out walls walls to affix the ceiling to? And, then show it in a cut thru in 3D?
  14. How would I obtain a webbed truss that I could manually place and drag to length? Basically a smart object? Something that could be made longer and shorter... Or is there such a thing in CA?
  15. What is the simplest way to create a 3 part wall? I need to take the metal wall above the block wall and split it where half is translucent fiberglass and the remainder remains metal... Thanks
  16. How do you set the default settings for send to layout scaling. For instance have it preset to Fit To Sheet (No Scale) -or- to be set to 1/8" instead of the 1/4" by default.
  17. Thanks. Not sure how to do that. Is there a training video on the proceedure?
  18. Any way to flip this L Bracket upside down in order to show flashing for the stonework to then butt against wall to turn down over the stone? Or is there a better way to make the flashing?
  19. Ray Trace your 10 Passes, = 1 min. 54 sec. to my 8 min. 58 sec. Walk Thru = your 30 fps, 71 sec., 2130 frames = 13 min. 9 sec. to my 69 min. 22 sec. That's a dramatic difference. Thanks! So I think I'll go with the Mac Pro now and keep my current dual Thunderbolt Monitor Setup until Apple catches up and starts making monitors again before I jump into and invest in the iMac Pro arena. So now the final Question. Is X9 built to take advantage of HyperThreading Multi-Core Technology so as to perform better with more cores or is it better with higher clock speeds for Rendering Walk-Thru's and Ray Tracing? Which one? Clock Speed -or- Cores and Cache? Mac Pro with Intel Xeon E5, 64GB (4x16GB) of 1866MHz DDR3 ECC, 1TB PCIe-based SSD, Dual AMD FirePro D700 GPUs with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM each (1) 3.5GHz 6-core with 12MB of L3 cache (2) 3.0GHz 8-core with 25MB of L3 cache (3) 2.7GHz 12-core with 30MB of L3 cache
  20. Yeah, I saw that. I was hoping for new Mac Pro also, and... last I checked Apple stopped making monitors. I have 2 Thunderbolts and like them because they are very bright other 3rd Part things I've looked at even in 5K just don't have the brilliance. Plus I;d feel weird about having a 5K iMac Pro and a Thunderbolt next to it.... as rumored I wish Apple would make monitors again to match their hardware...
  21. Hi Greg, The plan file contains a camera on the floor of the laundromat that you can Raytrace. Also there is a walk thru path that I'm curious on how long it takes to complete on your system, at 30 fps. Thanks! Plan.plan
  22. I am a Mac user for 8 years now, and so sticking with the Apple EcoSystem for now, but, I want faster walk-thru renderings and ray-tracing. I currently use X9 on a MacBook Pro4 Core (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) 2.6 GHz Intel Core i7 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M w/ attached Dual Thunderbolt Monitors I am considering a fully maxed Mac Pro if I can think I can get a 35-40%+ improvement in rendering performance over my current laptop for walk-thru's and raytracing. So my questions: (8) 3Ghz Cores or (12) 2.7Ghz Cores? 16, 32, or 64 GB (does memory impact rendering and ray-tracing?) CPU or GPU in ranking order which of the above has the greatest impact in rendering and ray-tracing for how that the current Mac version of X9 is built. Is it worth maxing out a Mac Pro? Can a currently maxed iMac sufficiently perform in comparison to potential diminishing returns of moving further on to the maxed out Mac Pro? Thanks.
  23. How do I get the linked .Skp Roll-Up Door - Industrial door to act like a door and set in a wall and have properties of a like a garage door? https://3dwarehouse.sketchup.com/model.html?id=6196ebb665daaf1a99e70de063b51884
  24. Yes. That's what I am attempting to do. I send an multiple elevation view to the Layout and I want them aligned on the horizontal plane. i.e. the floor heights would be aligned. I will have to learn the point to point move. Thanks.
